Though my scant knowledge of phonetics cannot offer an exact
description of my hometown's local phonological idiosyncrasies, I
have, in my desire to dissociate myself therefrom, worked out a
reasonably precise caricature of it: A certain rounding of all
vowels occurs, followed by a tendency to cluck "tense" vowels as
schwas, such that nearly every word has the same pluck and chuckle
of that inimitable epithet "huckleberry".
