I am random, honest, and an optimist.

My Self-Summary

Yes. My profile is long. If you don't like that? Not my problem.

I'm a confusing combination of tomboy, girly-girl, librarian, and tattooed tease. I admit I like to dress up and look pretty, but all the same I like to dress it down and just have a good time. Camping is one of my favorite pastimes, and I love spending days of my summer at the lake or river. I've got one tattoo with intentions to get more. Formerly pierced three times, now down to two (my ears), I like piercings and want more, but anything not on the ears is impractical for achieving my goals. I'm a bookworm to the Nth degree, and a self-proclaimed nerd.

I am clumsy and accident prone. I can articulate myself extremely well one day, and stumble all over my words the next. I can swear like a sailor, and I can keep my tongue clean...it just depends on the place and time. I have always wanted to play guitar, but I think my fingers are too clumsy to get it right.

I'm a fairly laid back person. I don't like drama and tend to avoid it if at all possible. I'm an optimist. I take what life gives me and make the best of it, and look for the positives in any situation. I like to think I am a realist as well, though. I'm also a very honest person. I don't see much point in hiding the truth. Lies only cause more problems and more drama than they are worth.

Music is like oxygen for me. I have to have music. I play video games, read comicbooks, watch anime, and read manga. I love history. I love anything that has to do with mythology.

I don't watch much television and usually when I do it's either Food Network or HGTV. Usually if I've seen a series, it's because I've seen the DVDs. My favorite television show is Firefly, hands down.

I'm a writer and a dreamer. I like to let my imagination run away with itself.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm a student at the University of Oklahoma, studying for a degree in Anthropology. I want to be a lot of things...an archaeologist, a socio-cultural anthropologist, and now I have an increasing interest in studying skeletal biology and working in paleodemography. I also want to teach history or, hopefully, anthropology at the collegiate level.

I currently am working only one job, at Lane Bryant in Norman. For the past eight or so months I had been working two, but fortunately I have been able to take a step back and relax a little bit this semester.

I’m really good at

Bullshitting essays for class.
Snuggling...I'm extremely cuddly.
Giving hugs.
Car dancing.

The first things people usually notice about me

I've been told most frequently my smile or my eyes.

Really you'd just have to ask other people...or ask yourself. What did you notice about me first?

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

I couldn't pick an absolute favorite book to save my life, but here are some of my favorites: Dracula, Mother of Pearl, Kim Harrison's Rachel Morgan series, Pride & Prejudice & Zombies (I like the original too, but zombies made it INCREDIBLE), The Hobbit & Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The Count of Monte Cristo, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, 1984, Animal Farm, Timequake, Cat's Cradle, Sirens of Titan, Breakfast of Champions, Cold Mountain, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Wheel of Time series, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Education of Little Tree, most of the works of Shakespeare I have read so far...the list goes on.

Movie wise...it's about the same as books. A selection of favorites: Dead Poet Society, What Dreams May Come, pretty much any Disney/Pixar/Miyazaki movie...there are very few I don't like, Good Will Hunting, Memoirs of a Geisha, Simon Birch, The Hole, The Breakfast Club, Children of Men, 28 Days Later, Lord of the Rings, original Star Wars trilogy, Watchmen (yes I've read the comicbook and yes I still liked it), V for Vendetta (once more, yes I've read the comicbook), Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, American History X, Tim Burton films...all of them, spaghetti westerns, over the top cheesy horror films, The Glass House, Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, The Notebook, Mean Girls, A Haunting in Connecticut, Whip It...

As far as music goes, I am an eclectic. My favorite genres, though, are classic rock, alt rock, folk, and blues. As far as picking favorite musicians/bands...well...once more I give you a small sampling of my favorite artists, and if you'd like to know more you can always ask: A Perfect Circle, Tom Waits, Townes Van Zandt, Emmylou Harris, Tool, Jeff Buckley, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, Santana, The Eagles, The Beatles, The Horrorpops, Incubus, Avenged Sevenfold, The Goo Goo Dolls, Foo Fighters, The Wallflowers, A.F.I., Matt Nathanson, Allman Brothers, Coheed & Cambria, Billy Joel, Blues Traveler, Johnny Cash, David Bowie, Glasvegas, The Guess Who, Ludo, Neko Case, Miranda Lambert, Simon & Garfunkel, Pearl Jam, RHCP, Steve Miller Band, Stone Temple Pilots, Buckcherry, NIN, Three Dog Night...and many more. I love music.

My favorite foods are: Thai, Mexican, Italian, sushi, apples, mushrooms, and bread.

The six things I could never do without

The essentials. Love, food, shelter, air to breathe, water to drink, and a big pointy stick to fend off monsters...okay not really on that last one, but it could come in handy after the apocalyptic destruction of society as we know it...or something.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I think about the big questions a lot. Death, love, life, where socks go when they disappear from the drier...you know. Important things or something like that. I think about thinking too much.

On a typical Friday night I am

Typical Friday nights don't exist.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I don't know how to ride a bike. I don't like having mirrors in my bedroom. They freak me out. I can't sleep with a door open, be it the bedroom door or the closet door.
