My Self-Summary
I have a really hard time answering where I'm from, which is a
question I get a lot. I could say that I'm Russian, which is not
really accurate because I was actually born in Belarus but then it
was the Soviet Union and most people don't know where Belarus is so
I just get blank stares. Or I can say New York, which is where I
live now and where I lived when I first moved to the states but
most of my life I've lived in New Jersey, and no one REALLY wants
to admit that...even though I sorta love New Jersey! So a
self-summary is never easy!
After graduating, I spent a year teaching English in Madrid (a.k.a. taking really long siestas, eating a lot of manchego cheese and chorizo and travelling Europe on the cheap). I'm at law school now and it's kicking my butt but dancing, boxing and cooking experiments have kept me sane, although often injured.
My friends and family are really important to me, especially my puppy who is both.

What I’m doing with my life
I'm in my second year of law school...so maybe the better question
is why I'm doing this to my life! I'll admit that I'm pretty
idealistic and still believe, perhaps naively, that I'll use my law
degree to make the world a tinsy bit better in my own way. I don't
think I can be happy unless I feel like I'm helping others...it's
probably a selfish impulse but I'm ok with that.

cooking if I have the chance, list-making, untagging facebook
photos, coming up with clever titles for papers, tequila shots...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food
I love to read so choosing favorite books is like choosing my
favorite parent but generally, I love Gogol and Dostoyevsky,
Marquez and Vonnegut (the older stuff). Waiting for Godot and Jane
Eyre are probably the books that have influenced me the most at
different points in my life

I'm trying to learn how to play the guitar so I've been listening to Jack Jimi Hendrix and John Mayer for some inspiration. I've also recently started listening to French music and really like Carla Bruni-also because I'm jealous she's married to hottie Sarkozy.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to really be happy in life and whether the career path I'm on
will actually get me there. Also, I day dream a lot about places I

On a typical Friday night I am
OUT enjoying New York and not thinking about law school! OR,
admittedly, I'm sometimes curled up with a good book (or the
previous night's Office). Pinkberry makes a regular appearance.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
sometimes I spoon with my dog...he's always fully clothed though :)
