My self-summary Propose an edit
Yay for a self-summary in a box - here goes!
I am endlessly curious, always learning and evolving as a person. I
pick up hobbies
like some people pick up pennies. I love a challenge and recently
have begun learning how to spin poi. I love house parties and rainy afternoons spent
reading or doing
arts and
crafts. I often stay up too late because I
can't put my book down or just HAVE to get that last row of
stitches in (cross-stitching). I'm a big
fan of martial
arts. I have some taekwondo experience but really feel that
tai chi and
kenpo are my
favorites. 5 year goal - blackbelt in tai chi. I'm working on
getting back into fighting shape and coming back from an ACL
sprain/meniscus tear so progress is regrettably slow...
I love roller
coasters and driving fast, but since I've become a parent, the
driving fast thing hasn't happened as much... eventually, though, I
will get a motorcycle and the helmet that's been
in my closet for the last 6 years will finally see the sunlight
again.
I love trying new wines and meads. I like swimming, tubing, hiking and boating... well, anything that puts me
on the water during the summer, really. Oh, and camping, too. I also enjoy
long
drives on back roads, windy mountain roads and waterfalls.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Pandora the music
genome project!!!
I like to cook and
try out new recipes. I don't have the room for it now, but one
thing I'd love to do is cook a meal with some friends, and then
have a few more people come over for a smashing dinner party. Good times
:-)
I believe that there are lessons to be learned everywhere. From
relationships to politics, I never stop absorbing information and
learning new things. I'm a lifetime learner.
I will trust you from the start until you do something to break
that trust.
I have my EMT
certification and used to volunteer at a local rescue squad.
I've been inactive for a few years, but one of these days, I'll
start running rescue again.
That's all I can come up with for now. Maybe we'll talk soon :-)
What I'm doing with my life Propose an edit
I am working, parenting, spinning, making new friends and learning
the value of old ones, finding my flow, looking for my path, and
defining my personal philosophy.
Also coming up with a "hamsters could save the world theory".
Seriously, ask me about it sometime...
I'm really good at Propose an edit
I'm really good at communicating. Unless I'm mad, in which case,
I'm really good at picking apart other people's arguments.
First Aid
Being spontaneous one day and planning the next day to death
Driving
The first thing(s) people usually notice about me Propose an edit
The fire that is spinning around my body at any given time?
I don't usually ask people.
But when asked, they usually say the first thing they notice
physically are my hair, eyes and neck.

so many new bands and sounds it's just great.
Food: anything free. But, no dairy products, please, I'm lactose
intolerant and very sad about it :-(
AND
My favorite quote: “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of
intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the
appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false
friends; to appreciate beauty; to find the best in others; to leave
the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden
patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has
breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of
success.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
The six things I could never do without Propose an edit
enthusiastic teachers
music
social interaction

constant challenge
the thrill of achievement
I spend a lot of time thinking about Propose an edit
whatever I'm working on with poi at the moment, juggling,
scheduling, philosophy, politics, music, the future, how to be a
good parent in a changing world, camping trips, books, school, how
polyamory translates into the dating world, and short term plans -
like what's happening this weekend...
On a typical Friday night I am Propose an edit
Doing one of the following things...or not. Nothing is ever set in
stone, especially Friday night plans...
Having a quiet night in with my little girl
Waiting for said little girl to go to bed and having a few friends
over
Going to a friend's house with a bottle of wine and a smile
Dressed up for Girls Night Out
Hanging out with SarahFax and stay_monkey, getting ready to spin
some fire.
Having two or three long, involved conversations going via text
message while I'm doing any of the above-mentioned activities
(except the fire thing, that kind of requires all of my attention).

The most private thing I'm willing to admit here Propose an edit
I'm deaf in my right ear. It's been that way since I was born, and
various doctors have no explanation for it.
In the real world, what this means is that when I'm driving, and
the music is up or windows are open, it's REALLY hard for me to
follow a conversation. If I'm the passenger, it's a teensy bit
easier. Same thing for super crowded bars/clubs. Seriously, if the
music is pumping, even if you're standing right next to me, it's
easier to send a text message if you want to say something :)
I will always try to walk on your right side.
When I sleep, I sleep on my left side, and I always sleep through
alarms :-P
_______________
A good kiss will absolutely make me melt into a little puddle of
Shelly-goo.
_______________
I am NOT looking for a surrogate parent for my child. She has a
father who is very much in the picture and supportive. Her father
and I are still friends and our interaction is mostly drama-free. I
don't ask people to spend time with us together unless they're
long-term, stable friends or lovers, and since I'm not really in
the market for that sort of thing at the moment, it's kind of a
moot point...however, you might see pictures, and bonus points will
be awarded for saying she's the cutest thing ever to walk the earth
:)
_________
I'm a submissive switch. I have a strong personality, and am
comfortable being alpha in a group (or a couple) but am really
looking for the right person to Dom me, for our mutual
satisfaction. I've given it a lot of thought, and while poly, I'm
not interested in casual hookups and will not submit to just anyone
who wants to boss me around. Prove you can stand up to me, and I'll
respect you enough to sub for you.
You should message me if Propose an edit
