My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
My job and house (old Philly brick row fixer upper) take up a good deal of my time but I always find time for myself. This might include fly fishing on the Wissahickon, gardening (I hope a lot this summer), random walks through Fishtown, gallery openings, reading/internet exploring at local coffee houses, art/music parties at friends’ houses, meeting interesting people, music at Johnny Brenda’s, music making, getting involved in neighborhood projects, squash, frisbee, crashing open houses, talking about economics and architecture with friends, random hikes through the city or woods and weekend getaways.

Some of my favorite places include Johnny Brenda’s, Penn Treaty Park, Kung Fu Necktie, Atlantis, El Bar, Memphis Taproom. Around town: Rittenhouse Square, Ukrainian League, Bartram’s Gardens, Fairmount Park at large, Monk’s, Tria on Sundays, South Philly Italian restaurants, Northern Libs, high end cocktail bars, antique, thrift and record shops. World: NYC, Amsterdam (lived there for 2 years), Edinburgh, Scotland (lived there for 2 semesters), Berlin, Austin and deep west Texas, California.

Other interests: Music (college radio stuff), WPRB and WFMU (especially the Best Show with Tom Scharpling), food, coffee, wine, vinyl (records, not siding!), 70s film, French new wave, modern furniture, architectural salvage, new old stock, 70s motorcycles, English and Italian bicycles, bamboo fly rods, kettle bells, cast iron anything, taxidermy, books, tweed, corduroy, beaches, mountains, farms, sun, rain, creeks.

I can’t say I have an ideal match in the Plato world of forms sense, but I suppose I’m looking for someone who shares my interests or at least someone whose sphere of interests does a good bit of intersecting with mine. Chemistry is always a factor too and it’s something I can only gauge in person. Anyone interesting. Being cute is a big plus as well.

Girls with skills, like nunchuck skills, bowhunting skills, computer hacking skills...

Someone who can show me the flowers among the garbage.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working in the science world, fixing up my house, looking for a second one, having fun, and slowly figuring things out.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
In an age of specialists I feel more like a generalist.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
It seems I must have a very common genome as very often people will come up to me and tell me I look exactly like so and so.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: I've always loved English modernists from the inner war period of 1915-1945.

Movies: 70's American, French New Wave. Documentaries. I also love 'Grandma's Boy' with all of the Billy Madison B actors and Idiocracy was brilliant.

Music: Big one...typical Indie fare (think Guided By Voices), 60s (Scott Walker), krautrock, lots of classical (Bach, Mahler, Shostakovich).

Food: All kinds, especially French and Thai.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
record player, college/free form radio, guitar, fly rod, coffee, bike
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Women and food (how crass, right?).
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
At a friend's house/bar/party/show in Philly.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Now why would I want to tell you that?
