I recently moved back to the Bay Area after completing a 13-year academic journey that's taken me from community college to UC Berkeley to MIT for an engineering PhD (I dropped out of high school--but that's a whole different story).

Movies, well, i watch a lot. Pretty much anything by wes anderson, david lynch, david fincher, terry gilliam, dario argento, the coen brothers, ron howard, coppola--francis ford and sophia, peter jackson, wim wenders etc. I am a sucker for cheesy science fiction (tron, flash gordon), pee-your-pants comedies (think office space), and documentaries.

Food: thai, vietnamese, tacos, sushi and anything with intense flavor.

I am music obsessed. A day in the life might include songs by blonde redhead, wolf parade, phillip glass, david bowie, pj harvey, nick cave and the bad seeds, the birthday party, roland s. howard, neko case, nina simone, crime and the city solution, johnny cash, bob dylan, new york dolls, old motley crue, isan, gbh, the clash, elliot smith, nick drake, david bowie, neutral milk hotel, circle jerks, kyuss, rolling stones, wilco, pixies, marvin gaye, arvo part, the cure, queen, acdc, jane's addiction, talking heads, bach, rachels, and on and on....
