My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I work in education studying how students learn and how teachers teach.

I spend a lot of time thinking about how I can single handedly fix education in this country (hey, someone has to do it). I am fluent in sarcasm. I am prone to feminist rants. I don't take myself too seriously, because where's the fun in that?

I love to travel and fancy myself something of an adventurer (I did dive off a cliff into the Mediterranean, so if that's not an adventurer, I don't know what is). I have not seen near enough of the world and plan elaborate trips abroad on a regular basis. Thailand and Cambodia last year. Just got back from Peru and heading to the Galapagos this fall. I have a few smaller hiking trips within the US planned between my big trips abroad.

I love to be outdoors. I enjoy hiking, biking, running, walking, boating, fishing, kayaking, swimming, and essentially all water activities.

I love to read, and I'm oddly not all that selective with my books. If you think it's good, I'll probably be willing to give it a shot. Some of my favorite books are I Married Adventure, Night Circus, Les Miserables, Ender's Game, and the Harry Potter series. I also really enjoy Ray Bradbury's short stories.

I watch entirely too much TV, but in my defense, I like the background noise while I'm working. My favorites of the moment are Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Parenthood, 30 Rock, Game of Thrones, The Wonder Years (yes, it's old, but damn, it's still so good), Fringe, and Supernatural (although I'm not digging the most recent seasons)

I have really eclectic taste in music. My ipod on shuffle makes me seem like I have multiple personalities. I guess my favorites are jazz, folk, country (I did grow up in Texas, what do you expect?), classical, rock, really anything other than rap, hip-hop, or music that makes me feel like I'm being screamed at.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.

google (I love the ability to look anything up at a moment's notice. I'm not really sure how people got their questions answered before the internet)
a good pair of sperry's to hike/walk in (I have strong and controversial opinions about sperry's as hiking shoes)

I have an embarrassingly large collection of Disney movies and know an insane amount of useless Disney trivia. Actually, we have a family tradition that all our pets are named after Disney characters. Brownie points if you can figure out the character my current dog, Tod, is named after.
