My self-summary
I will never profess to being good at talking myself up. Neither a salesman, agent, nor pimp am I. I do feel that I am better in person, but this is on paper (well, computer screen) so I'll give it my best. I'm on the quest for the Pam to my Jim, the Lily to my Marshall, the Monica to my Chandler, the chocolate to my peanut butter. I grew up in northern MN and have been living in the cities for about 10 years. I work full-time in the accounting department for a Fortune 500 grocery retailer in Edina, and I certainly find time for my fair share of fun. My number one interest is sports, I enjoy watching them and playing them. I also enjoy reading, staying active, most types of movies and music, and trying to have fun in whatever I am doing. Good company never hurts either.
What I’m doing with my life
I work full time in a fun cubicle job (that's not an oxymoron, right?). I like being able to work the typical M-F 730-4 and then getting the chance to enjoy myself, whether it be in one of the sports leagues I'm in, relaxing at home with the latest Netflix movie or out with friends. Lately it seems like I've been doing a fair share of house/pet sitting for relatives and friends. Nothing like a little extra money.
I’m really good at
I can make just about anyone laugh. I would like to think I have a dry/sarcastic sense of humor, and a pretty quick wit to go along with that. I just enjoy having fun, so making people laugh makes that easier.

I am also good at being very competitive. From the basketball court to video games to trivial pursuit, I enjoy winning, but I certainly can handle defeat.

I enjoy mind tests/games, crossword puzzles, things of that nature. For some reason I'm also good at remembering random facts, peoples' names and music lyrics. Sometimes these things come in handy for trivia, other times it's just fun to impress people.

I'm also pretty good at challenging myself. I am just starting to try out yoga, and in 2012 I completed a 7k in March (Get Lucky) and 5k adventure races in June (Go Commando) and September (Rugged Maniac). They've been fun so far. 2013 is going to feature a RM repeat as well as something called Ragnar Relay in August (look it up!). I also worked my way through the "Couch-to-5k" program. Who knew running is actually enjoyable?
The first things people usually notice about me
Easily my height. Being 6'4" doesn't make me NBA tall, but it certainly helps me to stick out from the crowd. People who don't know me tend to be intimidated by my size until they get to know me and realize I am pretty much a big softie. In fact, I had a coworker tell me that I look very imposing until I open my mouth, and then I just sound too polite to be feared. I also get comments for my smile, laugh and dimples.

Lately it's been the beard. It's red, it's real, and it's spectacular.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I enjoy reading books that keep you guessing, things in the John Grisham/Michael Crichton/Robin Cook area. I don't do as much reading as I used to nor as much as I would like to, but I try to find time here and there to unwind and lose myself in a book. Recent reads include Outliers and Fast Food Nation. Fascinating and scary stuff.

I will watch most movies, from action or comedy to sports or thrillers. It all depends on my mood and who I am with. All-time faves include Shawshank Redemption, Dumb and Dumber, and Die Hard. Netflix is my friend, and I have really started getting into older movies. And by older I mean those from the 60s and 70s.

Current shows that I watch: Breaking Bad, How I Met Your Mother, The Big Bang Theory, SNL, The Daily Show/Colbert, The Voice (Cee Lo rocks), and Jeopardy. All time favorite shows include Friends, Seinfeld, and MacGyver. Shows that I've watched via Netflix: 3rd Rock From the Sun, Frasier, Cheers, Prison Break, Numb3ers.

I enjoy a wide variety of music. My car presets range from rock and the 80s to top 40 and country. More likely Bon Jovi and The Black Eyed Peas instead of Bon Iver and The Black Keys. Cue the sound of music snobs scurrying away. Don't worry, I'm open to new music. Pretty much anything except loud screaming, hardcore rap, and polkas.

I am not too picky when it comes to food. At the very least my palate has expanded greatly over the past few years. I never thought I would like calamari or artichoke dip. I am not a huge fan of seafood, and certain other things like mushrooms, tomatoes (but not anything that comes from tomatoes) and coconut are no-nos. I enjoy trying new places and new dishes. I will admit that I do not do a ton of cooking for myself, but I am always willing to learn. Cooking for two (or more) is way more fun than cooking for one.
The six things I could never do without
Family and friends don't count as "things" so...

Television
Internet
Car
Cell Phone
Laughter
Sports
I spend a lot of time thinking about
If my voice was like Josh Groban's, would I just sing everything?
How some people with zero talent get to be famous (I'm looking at you Jersey Shore).
How to get "Gangnam Style" out of my head.
How I'd celebrate if one of the teams I cheer for actually won a championship (it's 104 years and counting for the Cubs).
If this really is the best way to meet someone.
As of 3/29 I own my own condo, so now putting my personal touches on it and moving in are on the brain.
On a typical Friday night I am
In reality, I am not sure there is a typical Friday night for me. On the couch watching movies, game nights, going to the bar, pretty much anything and everything is a possibility. Do I enjoy going out to a show or new restaurant? Absolutely. Do I like staying in and taking it easy after a long week? Of course. Clubbing until 2am? Um, probably not. I try not to plan too much. My dad told me that indecision is the key to flexibility.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I never send a message to someone the first time I look at their profile. It's not a crazy superstition or anything. I just want to make sure I send messages to people I really think I'd have a chance at connecting with. I make sure to check over the profile, pictures and questions a couple of times before diving in. I don't send messages all willy-nilly. There's time and thought put into them.
I’m looking for
  • Straight girls only
  • Ages 26–34
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
By this point (if you made it this far, and kudos if you have), you may already have decided whether or not you are going to message me (or respond to a message I've sent you). In case you are still on the fence and need that last nudge, I'll say you should message me if you enjoy laughing, random movie quotes, useless sports facts, and being around someone who enjoys having fun. Someone who has moved past random hookups and is looking for something meaningful and long-term.

That being said, you should not message me if any of the following apply:

A) You are in a relationship - shouldn't have to say that, but you'd be surprised.
B) You have children - just not interested in that at this time. But someday, little ones of my own will be great.
C) You smoke cigarettes or do drugs.

Also, if I've sent you a message and you think we won't work out, by all means shoot me a quick message and say so. It's easier for me that way. Best of luck in your searching!
