My self-summary
Edit* So I've come to the conclusion that I am abusing okcupid and not really accomplishing my original goal, which was to NOT be on okcupid at all. Right now, 8:25am on a Saturday, I'm sitting in my favorite coffee shop reading the Reader, enjoying life and Chicago in general. What I really want is someone to join me, hopefully permanently. If early morning coffee and conversation is not your thing, then we don't have to waste each other's time.
I'm a geek/jock/nice guy who thinks life is about being happy and keeping the people around you happy, too. I'm the guy who is always looking out for my family and friends, and while I'm not looking for someone to take care of me, I'd really love to have a partner.
What I’m doing with my life
Working too much. Although, that is changing a bit now, which is good, because time is infinitely more valuable than money. If you don't believe that, you can probably stop reading now. I love concerts, movies, football, (stupid Bears,) and bowling... Oh god, I'm so addicted to bowling right now. And I love making people laugh. Nothing better than when people get what you're saying and mutually understand the silliness of this life.
I’m really good at
Driving. I'm better at it than anyone I know. It's what I do for a living, every day, so I'm pretty good at it. Making people laugh. Sometimes I go too far and make an ass of myself just to get a laugh, so be warned.
The first things people usually notice about me
My big smile. I almost always have a big smile on my face, to the point where people sometimes think I have a screw loose.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: All over the place, The Time Travellers Wife, A Brief History of the Dead, Alice in Quantum Land, (quantum physics is hard) Watchmen, almost any graphic novel, actually, The Glass Castle...
Movies: Primer, (trying so hard to wrap my head around that movie) Back to the Future, Anything Quentin Tarantino, Original Star Wars Trilogy, It's A Wonderful Life, District 9, Cloverfield...
TV: LOST... LOST is my favorite tv show of all time, and nothing's really come close since, BUT... Breaking Bad is pretty great, Archer Futurama, (favorite cartoon of all time, there WILL be a Bender tattoo on my arm, mark my words) Arrested Development, Bob's Burgers, (I love H. Jon Benjamin's voice) Community, Misfits, and The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret.
Food: I've been trying (and mostly succeeding) to eat more healthy as of late, but the Trucker burger at the Beetle is just so damn good... I'm not too picky on food, don't really like sushi...
Music: So much, can't go five minutes without music, The Strokes, Black Keys, Imagine Dragons, Dropkick Murphys, Gaslight Anthem, Nicole Atkins, MC Chris, Ludacris, the Flaming Lips, Tenacious D, Cake, mostly anything new and alternative. Not big on country or oldies or classic rock. Not my thing.
The six things I could never do without
My friends, my family, my phone, comics, laughing til I cry, work, oh wait, that's already six... dang.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How I'm gonna make the next decade better than the last decade and why are there so many rotten people on this planet... sorry, I listen to the news on my way to work in the morning, and how there is so much evil stuff going on just baffles me.
On a typical Friday night I am
Wholly depends on what time I get done with work. If it's early, I'm going out to a concert, a movie, something... I'm not really a big bar guy, but they can be fun with the right people. I don't really drink on a regular basis, so bars don't hold a lot of appeal to me, unless there's a band playing. If I get home late, dinner and Netflix curled up with someone on the couch would be perfect.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I am the prototypical nice guy. Sometimes people say that, and it's kinda bullshit, but I am. And it comes with a certain amount of naivete about the world that I wouldn't trade for anything. Sometimes viewing the world like a 12 year old is not a bad thing.
You should message me if
You are a genuinely happy person, but you want to be happier. Life is pretty awesome, but there's something kinda missing, and you are looking for a partner in crime. Someone to gang up on the world with. If you laugh a lot. If you get it. If you like to hold hands. If you're honest.
