My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Shy, yet eager-to-be social someone more than willing to break out of his current doldrums. A small-town guy who probably would have been better off growing up in a bigger city. A person who is not great with small talk, but will ask you too many questions until you ask him to stop. Someone, if you get through the awkward introductory social phase, who will always listen.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Just hanging on tight! The next opportunity will come around soon enough, but for now I'm just living here. I grew up in the Midwest and while it isn't always the best place in the world, I secretly sort of love it. Sometimes you just tolerate snowstorms. (And endless days of below-zero temperatures. Perhaps that's a weird kind of love.)
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Listening. I'm really great at listening to others and offering advice. I really do enjoy random conversations about nothing!

My educational background is in English and print journalism, so I love to edit, find/research information and write. I like to write too much, in fact, that I am often my worst editor! I am always open to editing my friends' research papers though!

I really do try to care and understand about what's going on in the world. This can lead to be some pretty heated opinions about things and I can be quite outspoken (and often wrong!) about many topics.

With that said, I admit I'm pretty forward with I believe/do, and I don't particularly suffer fools. I will always appreciate effort in wanting to understand things around you, no matter how basic or complicated. (An ultimate pet peeve, as an example, are those who fear/complain about technology yet don't make a remote effort to learn how to use it. Using a computer is not difficult! Don't complain about it! Get better! Computers don't fight back!)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My dry, oftentimes awkward way I look or react among people. The way I try to add non-sequiturs into random conversations.

Another thing someone might notice about me is my eyes, or how one of them always appears sleepy-eyed. Fixing my eyes is definitely something I want to look into for the future, because my eyes often make me look sleepy and bored in every photo!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

You could say I grew up on the Internet, but perhaps I was there a bit too long. I love reading/using general technology and video games. Though I certainly don't try to be that stereotype. There's so much more to life than games, and well...I definitely would like to explore other things. "Gamer" has become a not-so-great word these days.

I also seem to be strange in that I am someone (down with stereotypes) who follows sports as much as he follows nerdy passions. I am a huge Twins fan (see photo for further silly details) and hope they get better soon! My journalism background makes me, oddly enough, root less for teams and more for stories and trends. Actual sports drama (and not what ESPN conjures up) can be exhilarating!

I don't have a particular taste in movies or music, but I will talk your ear off about a great TV show or movie, but I can also switch 180 degrees and talk about silly nonsense you wouldn't have a clue about (or need to know about)!

Music? I'm pretty open to the unknown, though I stick to stuff I'm familiar with like old video game music and pop/rock music from my high school/college years. Do you have something I might find interesting? Try me.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My computer, music, podcasts, close friends and family, a comfortable bed and some time to reflect.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
...what to do next in my life. Ways to make myself be a much better person. I imagine I would think a lot less about these type of things if I were occupied with other activities.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Either working or trying to keep myself occupied. The bar scene can be hit and miss for me, but I'm not against going if I have a friend or two with me.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I am very honest and open about my quirks, but I don't believe it is fair to reveal private matters to someone for whom you are just starting a serious conversation. (I tend to open up pretty quickly though.)
