I am ., ., and that I am.

My Self-Summary

I am a bit of a jack of all trades. Part scientist, part artist, part musician, part nerd, and part jock. I'm more of a pacifist, and yet I find myself in an mma gym training several times a week. I had to wrap my foot the other day because I broke a nail. Yes, I felt like an idiot, thanks. I'm a thinker. I have to understand how things work/why things work, etc. I grew up young and have always been out of place with my peer group. I may in fact be an old man's soul caught in a young body.

Oh, and I probably have my own circle of hell for the inappropriateness of some aspects of my sense of humor. You better be ok with the taboo and such. I am perfectly skilled at keeping it trapped in when I need to. I don't make dead baby jokes during job interviews.

I'm at the point in my life where my priorities go far past just getting laid. Someone of some substance is worth more to me than just a pretty face. I hope you are too.

What I’m doing with my life

I'm finishing up my degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Industrial Design. Doing some work on a start up that should make major changes to the feasibility of electric cars. A green job, although I'm far from an environmentalist.

I’m really good at

I'm really good at being pretty good at a lot of things. I strive to have a good understanding of the world, and how to get by on my own.

Oh, and cooking. I'm a really good cook. People are always amazed at the random food I pull out of thin air.

The first things people usually notice about me

I'm a honest, decent person and won't like you if you aren't the same. Leave the mini skirts at home, and bring an infectious smile and a sharp mind, and you'll have me at hello. Well, I suppose you'd have to say a little more than hello. Conversation could get a bit dull if you leave it at that.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Besides my textbooks, and indulging in the wonderful work of hardcore math, most of my reading sticks to the philosophical sort. Stuff that makes you really think about life, society and our place in everything. I'm a big fan of Kurt Vonnegut and Orson Scott Card.

I often find myself with a guitar(or some other instrument, depending on my mood) in hand, relaxing away to some simple blues. Nothing beats a good glass of wine or beer, a relaxing movie, and an evening with someone special.

The six things I could never do without

Something to write on... I work out ideas on paper... except math, which I often will do in the air.

Someone that understands my sense of humor... I hate seeing stuff fly over heads.

People to share my food with. I often cook WAY too much.

Music that comes with some passion and soul. If you can't feel true emotion, its just sound, although sometimes that's ok.

Something to tinker on. I like having grease under my nails, and the feeling of accomplishment from finishing a project. Hobbies are a must for everyone, keeps us grounded, our minds active, and our lives interesting.

On a typical Friday night I am

At work, unfortunately. The pleasures of being a bartender... I get to be the one serving you drinks while you're out having a good time.

If not working, out with friends, grabbing a drink, or trying a new restaurant. Just moved to the Fremont area, so still am yet to figure out what all is around. Far more familiar with the peninsula, sf, and berkeley, but having lived in all those places will do that.
