I'm Mike but most people call me Murph. I just graduated from law school and now I'm studying for the bar and trying to get a job doing criminal defense (or anything else). I worked doing indigent defense for juveniles this past year and loved it so that's something I'd really like to do. On a lighter note, I'm a pretty laid back person and I don't take anything too seriously. I am honest and generally upfront with my feelings, I don't really know how to hide how I feel and I don't think I should have to. I feel very strongly that clear communication is essential to any relationship whether its a significant other, friends, family or otherwise. I like to think I'm a romantic guy and I pride myself on being thoughtful even if it's something as simple as getting someone's favorite candy or beer.
I really enjoy laughing and I feel like laughing is one of the only ways to feel true, unfiltered joy. I love stand-up comedy (especially live) and I am fanatical about movies (I have around 200 DVDs, Netflix, and HBOGO). I like to talk about or debate (or argue) about things for fun. I don't hold grudges or take things personally because life is just too damn short. I like to talk with and just generally be around people. Enjoying life is my #1 priority.
I love trivia and I know a little about a lot of random stuff and a lot about a few things (movies, stand-up comedy, the law, the NFL, and the best burger places in New York haha).
I'm not sure whether I want to stay in Richmond forever. I could stay, move back to New York (if I had enough money), move to a totally different city or just keep moving from place to place forever, all of them sound appealing in the right circumstances. No matter what I want to travel a lot.
What I’m doing with my life
I ask myself this question all the time. I just graduated law
school and I'm trying to figure out how to do what I want and pay
the bills. I lived in New York studying at Fordham Law and I'm back
in Richmond for the foreseeable future. Probably spending several
days a week at fan bars. Swimming in my pool and making trips up to
New York. Studying for the bar. Other things.
I’m really good at
Reading people, making people laugh, talking, cuddling. Memorizing
movies, songs (and singing them incredibly loudly in my car with my
volume turned all the way up), memorizing anything I hear (I'm an
auditory learner). Drinking Bourbon. Making food without a recipe
that I have no idea how to make again. Watching Wet Hot American
Summer, The Godfather and several other moves over 50 times,
seriously. Having no clue how to answer this without just straight
The first things people usually notice about me
I really don't know how to answer this. My eyes or beard or the
fact I wear jeans 90% of the time. I'm talkative, I know like every
line from every movie ever, I'm sarcastic and joke a lot.

Favorite Food: Haven't found a food I don't like yet and I'm a
really adventurous eater. A nice ribeye steak is the absolute
greatest thing on earth. I love spicy food and anything exotic or
interesting but a good burger can be just as good.
The six things I could never do without
I like to think I'm pretty adaptable and could do without almost
anything in the right circumstances but:
Sports (NFL and MLB)
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sports, movies, my friends, my career, my life, the world. I day
dream a lot and more often than not I am probably thinking about
something funny I did, saw, or heard or about being a super hero or
traveling in my private jet all over the world.
Also like to reminisce about the summer before law school when I
drove from Colorado Springs to Richmond and from Richmond to San
On a typical Friday night I am
Either at the bar having a few drinks, at a house party at a
friend's house, or having people over to hangout. I am not really a
loud club person at all, I'd much rather go to a local bar with
familiar people, good music and a pool table.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
One of my life goals is to perform stand-up and I write jokes
regularly. I laugh at funny things when I'm alone, often.
You should message me if
You want to know more about me, you find any part of this bio
interesting, you love Pavement, you want to talk about movies, if
you want to get a couple/few/several drinks, if you want to get
some interesting (good) food, if you hate everything about me and
want to let me know, really any reason at all.
I'm really just looking to meet new people and go on some dates and
have fun, if that leads to a relationship that'd be great. I'm just
moving back to Richmond after 6 years and it seems like the city
has changed a lot so I'd love to explore new places. If you just
want to have fun and do something new or grab a few drinks message
NOTE: If I send a message, I'm trying to be as genuine and
interested as possible. If that comes across as awkward or odd and
that bothers you we probably won't get along anyway but I've always
been better in person than "on paper" or as electrical signals or
