My Self-Summary

My life is spent thinking about how to make computers work better, and also, fixing and improving OkCupid along with Sam, Chris, Adam, Tom, Eujern, Vinay, Eli, James, Erik, Craig, Peter, Meghan, and JM.

Plans for self-improvement: none, it's all downhill from here.

What I’m doing with my life

Building secure distributed systems. Meaning OkCupid's infrastructure.

I’m really good at

Fixing things that have broken; waking up early; not drinking coffee; taking short naps while driving, waking up in time to make that turn; skiing.

The first things people usually notice about me

My breasts.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

(a) The Mezzanine, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle, and Middlesex since it's mentioned above.

(b) Vertigo, Rushmore, The Man With the Movie Camera, a lot more, but those come to mind for some reason. Recently, I've enjoyed Melinda and Melinda, though can understand why a lot of people wouldn't; so while I'm at it, I like most Woody Allen, including of course Manhattan. Also, The Incredibles was a lot of fun, as was Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, which was strangely similar plot-wise.

(c) The Magnetic Fields, Pavement, The Flaming Lips, Sonny Rollins, Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, Bob Dylan, Jim O'Rourke, though I still think that My Bloody Valentine's Loveless is one of the top albums, ever.

(d) Indian Food, the best food in the world.

The six things I could never do without

I am somewhat addicted to the internet, and OkCupid. Aside from those and the obvious things, it's nice to have a bicycle, but in general, I am trying to avoid the accumulation of fleeting material possessions.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

Better and better arguments against your religious beliefs.

On a typical Friday night I am

In front of the terminal, working on OkCupid.com

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Privacy can be overrated.
