Hey there, fellow profile-skimmers! I'm a fairly quiet man, rather
easy-going unless I hit on something that really interests me.
Still, when I get going I can get pretty engaging: I can talk about
near anything, and listen even better. I believe you should learn
something on a good date, about the date, yourself and the world at
large. I'm not looking for anything serious at the moment, and I'm
just trying this out. I think I'm built for romance and monogamy
though, so something growing out of this is a definite
I also have no idea what on earth is going on with my "personality"
What I’m doing with my life
Going into my last year of University in Guelph, may go overseas
and teach English once I finish. I will probably go into
copywriting, although I'm good enough with the physical sciences to
do technical writing as well. I hope to one day write fiction, but
that falls by the wayside more than I would like. Made some real
strides lately though.
I’m really good at
the English language: I can talk, write and parse with the best of
them. So I'm really good at communicating, defusing conflict and
getting on people's good side. Beyond that I'm good at knuckling
under and getting something done without complaint: a job's gotta
The first things people usually notice about me
Well, my profile picture shows off my eyes pretty well. Beyond
that, I do have a lot of people tell me how smart I sound when I
first meet them, no matter how much I try to hide it. Still, once
the initial shyness rubs off I am garrulous, witty and very
charming. I also feel weird self-cheerleading like this, ick.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books: huge Cormac McCarthy fan, still plowing through Infinite
Jest. Love Kurt Vonnegut. Have a soft spot for Frank Herbert,
Fyodor Dostoevsky, Junot Diaz. Nick cave is surprisingly
Movies: Lawrence of Arabia, Dr Strangelove, Robocop. Unconditional
love of Nicolas Cage, official diagnosis is pending with my
psychiatrist over that one.
Shows: Breaking Bad, for the most part. I tend to do the DVD binge
thing, I suppose I'm just impatient by nature. Student life doesn't
lend itself well to television, sad to saw.
Music: Huge Nick Cave fan, have inordinate fondness for 80's heavy
metal and N.W.A/Death Row style gangster rap. Love punk, especially
Iggy Pop and the Stooges. I'll honestly listen to anything, I'm a
firm believer that any genre is an acquirable taste.
Food: I'm kind of quick and dirty about my food, but every so often
I spluge and make something really good. Dates are a wonderful
motivator that way.
The six things I could never do without
1) My family and friends
2) Good books
3) Music of all kinds
4) Indoor plumbing
5) Lacking self-awareness of my dance skills
6) The ability to get wild once and a while
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Life, the universe and everything. The inner workings of art and
how it comes to be how it is, where our society is going. I dwell
on a lot of stuff, high and lowbrow. How I'm going to go about my
next run through Dark Souls, for example.
On a typical Friday night I am
Taking it easy. On a memorable Friday night however, things are
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
These are the best photos that I have: I don't have very
photo-happy friends and I can't figure out how to upload my phone
pictures onto my computer. In short: I am terrible with
Sometimes when I want to feel cool I'll listen to a bunch of Ennio
Morricone songs and wear a cowboy hat. It really is more effective
than it should be.
You should message me if
you want to cross the ol' Rubicon, cast some die and see what
happens. Only instead of conquering Rome and ruining democracy for
everybody, you're meeting a pleasant dude with a wicked sense of
humour for coffee and knowing that you're getting out and meeting
new people. I am told that these are roughly equivalent, but in
retrospect that date did go quite poorly.
