My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm always looking for things... looking AT things. I love it when I find something interesting about a spoken phrase and fixate on it, how it was said, and what it could mean instead. Usually it means cackling at inappropriate times~

Sometimes, when I'm staring at the ceiling in the wee hours, I like to think of book titles to novels that haven't been written yet.

On my time off, I generally just do my best to enjoy life in my own nerdy way. Whether it's hanging out with friends, watching movies or the like... I certainly fit the archetype of a geek.

For the particulars... long hair with a beard, quiet and solitary unless engaged. A bad habit of zoning out uninteresting conversations. Trying to be more active... failing miserably.

I do a movie podcast with several friends once a week that covers at least one recent release and older faves on dvd... gotta keep those creative juices flowing~
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
For the moment, I'm working 9-to-5 (only one job now! yay!), hoping to better my circumstances at a snail's pace since I spend too much money on vices.

Finished my Solar degree. Unfortunately a colleague on long-term sick leave died recently, leaving our office understaffed. I want to make sure the position is filled before I head off into the world of renewable energy design and engineering.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
...writing. Just finished the first draft of my first completed novel. Very happy. Now to edit it and sell it. Very mercenary, I know.

I do tend to be pretty opinionated. Among folks I don't know, I tend to keep my mouth shut and just listen in, but if I'm comfortable with folks, sometimes my mouth takes a walk without talking to my brain.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
My long hair...

...or my hat and coat?

I've been growing my hair out since 2001, only cutting it whenever the college's cosmetology club does their cancer awareness wig drive (and I haven't caught them doing it for a couple of years now). Right now it's all the way down to the small of my back.

What is there to say? I'm a big fan of literature and music.

Books-wise, when I'm reading for pleasure it's mainly fantasy/sci-fi or manga. My current favorite book is too hard to decide, but probably high on the list is Laughable Loves by Milan Kundera (which makes me sad) right next to The Sandman series by Neil Gaiman. My guilty pleasure books are The Dresden Files.

For music, primarily jazz for work (bebop mainly... I can't abide 80's synth-jazz) and industrial/techno for fun. If I were to name a favorite band, I'd have to say NIN... a close second and third would be Daft Punk and Gorillaz.

Favorite movie? Millenium Actress by Saotoshi Kon (R.I.P.). I'm a huge fan of MST3k and Rifftrax. Most of my collection are old fashioned transfers, but I'm trying to collect the box sets as they come out.

If you like anime at all, I heartily recommend a show called Hyouka. Last I checked, it wasn't out in America yet, but it's well worth the effort of tracking down.

Did I mention I love Sadie's Salsa? I hear there's a new Sadie's at a casino in Bernalillo. Would that they would come farther north.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Manga, StumbleUpon/Reddit, the world of fiction, a casual dress code, good music and... well, cheesily enough... hope.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game. by the ocean.

I live in the desert, but long for the sea... hoping some day to live in a small cottage (with enough room for all my books) on the central or northern coast. I don't how long it will take to get there or if my need for it will wither when I do, but I hope it comes soon.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Depends on what week it is... I help the local college run M:tG tourneys most friday nights, with the occasional movie thrown in for good measure.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I wrote terrible poetry in high school math on the blackboard... it started randomly, but then kept going in order to impress a girl in another class. It didn't end happily, but was a fun creative exercise while the dream lasted~

you're a big fan of relaxation... as the sum total of my non-work is me finding ways to decompress~ At the moment that means trying to find someone who likes to sit back and watch movies together... or go rafting/tubing when the river's up~

Also, if you're creative. I love writing and collaboration is fun as hell.
