I am: Blunt, perceptive, intellectually curious, occasionally dandyish, hard-working, and a little vain. Driven by culture, politics, ideas, experiences. Love a good conversation, especially over drinks after the movie or the play or the opening.

I do tech, and I write. I like both, so I consider myself fortunate when it comes to work and self-actualization and all that. Most of my career kvetching is behind me, thank God. (It was a little boring.)

Staying open to New York and all its charms. Looking for the next experience to absorb and be changed by. Ending sentence fragments with prepositions, apparently.

Sometimes people tell me that I have a nice speaking voice. I count this as some sort of accomplishment, considering that I grew up in Minnesota.

Movies: Darren Aronofsky, Michael Clayton, Mulholland Dr, The Fountain, Kill List, almost everything by Pixar.

Books: The Flame Alphabet, Housekeeping, The Satanic Verses, About a Boy, American Psycho, Alan Moore's Swamp Thing run.

Music: Adele, James Blake, Sleater-Kinney, Pulp, Animals as Leaders. I've seen Prince play at Paisley Park, and I've been in the mosh pit at Lightning Bolt shows.

TV: The standard set of high-end cable shows (Breaking Bad, Mad Men, yadda yadda). Archer. It's kind of freaking me out how few people are watching Treme. And I'm going to watch every last episode of Community, no matter how much it hurts me.

Whether I'm subscribed to too many magazines. The limits and the strengths of genre expectations. SXSW torrents. Making fun of the social media that I use anyway. My family. Mexican drug cartels. My overhyped and ridiculous but still-beloved neighborhood. Organizational processes. Spider webs. Taco trucks.

One day, I'll be the singer in a wedding band that does R&B and soul songs, and my life will be complete.
