I am centered, articulate, and fun loving.

My Self-Summary

First off some background.

I grew up and studied in Brisbane then took off to expand my career and horizons. One year turned into two, then five then ten. Came back for an extended holiday a while ago and was amazed at how much the place had changed. I decided to return. Spent way to long at University, three degrees and even managed to finish a couple of them.

What I’m doing with my life

Right at this moment?
I'm sitting as the rain teams down. Slowly increasing thunder lets you know the centre is still on its way. The rain steps up a gear. How I love thunder storms.

On a slightly longer scale:

Yoga: A teacher as well as student (always more to learn) of a Japanese style called Oki-Do. A recent addition to this space Tiako.

Photography: One the degrees was Fine Arts with a major in Photography. Recently made the switch for film to digital. Oh how I love photoshop!
Have also used it to make some time lapse videos.

The current day job is IT.

I’m really good at

Cooking. Yoga. Shiatsu- Massage.

At this pint I am wondering "How many things can you put down here before you start to sound like a Pratt?

Don't know so i will stop there.

Ok, a few more for shits and giggles:

Remembering to breath.

Walking without falling over.

Eating without stabbing a fork through my cheek.

Engaging in conversation without Drooling.

Traveling on two wheels without crashing, despite recent events with a blue Volvo.

The first things people usually notice about me

Homo sapiens, male.

Would be the first.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

A) The list is too long. Have read at least a book a week for the past 25 years. You name it, I've probably read it (with the exception of The Da Vinci Code...).

Some favourite Authors (in no particular order):

Olaf Stapleton, Kurt Vonnegut,

Mikhail Bulgakov, Terry Prachett,

Iain Banks, Feodor Dostoevsky,

Iain M. Banks (new culture novel in 2008!),

Robert Heinlein, Peter Carey,

Homer, Greg Bear,

Franz Kafka, Phillip K. Dick,

Kim Stanley Robinson, William Gibson,

J M Coetzee, Arundhati Roy,

Herman Melville, Stephen Baxter,

Mark Twain, Jules Verne,

Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Salman Rushdie,

David Brin, Ursula K. Le Guin,

Frank Herbert, George Orwell,

Raymond Chandler, Anthony Burgess,

Harper Lee, Ernest Hemingway,

Ken Kesey, William Burroughs,

Vladimir Nabokov, Albert Camus,

Leo Tolstoy, Arthur Conan Doyle,

Euripides, Rrich Maria Remarque,

Shakespeare, Douglas Adams,

John Irving, Robert Pirsig,

Ray Bradbury, Hunter S. Thompson,

Thomas Keneally, Patrick White,

Truman Capote, Gertrude Stein,

H.G. Wells, J.G. Ballard,

Niccolo Machiavelli,

well pretty much anything actually.

Non-fiction: History, biography, science, etc.

B) I'll rename this Movies & Drama. I love all theatre but especially Shakespeare. Was a season ticket holder with Bell Shakespeare while I lived in Sydney. Have been getting into physical theatre since returning to Brisvegas both watching and performing. Not really into 'Chick Flicks' or 'Car Chase Movies'. More of an art house guy. Kubrick was a god of cinema.

C) Pretty much everything. Blues, Jazz, Hip-hop, Dance, Funk, Classical and (never thought I would say it) even some country. (Read: Johny Cash) Of late I've been listening to a lot of Jazz, you just have to love Blue Note.

D) Just about anything. Love to eat (and cook as well). Some of my favs are Thai, Italian, Indian and Japanese.

The six things I could never do without

It's funny. On one hand I think "How in the world am I going to keep the list to only six", on the other it is "When I actually think about it I could narrow it down to three...Food, water, and a warm dry place to sleep". But that is probably in the spirit of the question, so.

1) Something to read. At anyone time I have several books on the go.

2) A camera. Have I mentioned a few years doing photography at art college?

3) Good food. It is not just fuel but one of the great joys of this world.

4) Good weather and a place to enjoy it. This does not just mean a fine day at the beach. Bush walking in a rain forest on a rainy day is a wonder filled thing. There is a beautiful sense of fecundity and because most people stay away in 'bad weather' solitude can be your friend.

5) The feeling of drifting off to sleep, sinking into the arms of Morpheus, completely spent. Be it after a day spent body surfing in a thumping swell, walking or MTBing in the bush or in more (usually) nocturnal activities.

6) Still working on number six. Check back soon.

On a typical Friday night I am

Having a few drinks at work before heading out to dinner somewhere or a club.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

Would you believe that 13 years after buying a motorbike, my first accident would be getting cut off by a man in a dark blue Volvo.

You should message me if

I sound interesting to you.
You are drunk and bored.
I am looking for intellectual as well as physical stimulation and attraction. Also my blog is here: http://monkeymind21c.blogspot.com/ (has not been updated in a while...)
