I enjoy reading, creative writing (short stories, screenplays, the occasional poem), spending time with my son, conversing with friends, family, surfing (not very well), playing tennis, working-out, watching movies, riding my motorcycle and sports car, time spent in quiet contemplation. I don't drink or use drugs, used to. Though I'm not religious, I do rely upon a solid spiritual foundation to deal with the ups and downs of life. I believe that loving someone for their shortcomings and not just despite their faults is a more true and profound love.

What I’m doing with my life

I recently left the business world and have returned to college in order to change careers. Within the next two years I will become an RN and I look forward to having a more balanced and fulfilling professional life. I used to teach English at the community college level and want to combine that with my new healthcare career.

One of the pleasures of getting to know someone is discovering what their favorites are, right? Or maybe not. I read about a dude who broke-up with his girlfriend because she loved Dances with Wolves. As long as someone is opionated and doesn't take it personally if I say that American Beauty was crap.

The six things I could never do without

I had a nice and earnest list, but then figured that at one time or other I'd gone without each of them. And I'm still around.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

--Myself. Really, who doesn't? And so I seek productive distractions like learning new skills or following some characters around in my imagination to see where they might go.
--More recently I've been trying to memorize some poems and build up a quick and ready mental library of verse. It's made me realize how bad my memory is.

On a typical Friday night I am

Sometimes I meet up with friends. I like to seek-out good entertainment if I'm feeling social. Often I'll stay home and read, or rent a flick.
