I am the person on the left in the photo. Just returned to SF after
a brief exile in the Pacific Northwest.
I think I'm a nice, generally intelligent and interesting guy,
although I'm sure most people feel that way about themselves.
Recently I suffered an injury to my hands, which was startling, and
also the best thing that's ever happened to me (in part because I
got to keep both hands).
Don't really know what I do for work, but they keep paying me, so I
don't complain in public.

I spend a lot of time thinking about
Ways to be proud of my life forty years from now. This boils down
to whether to concertedly search for a plausible job, or move to
Africa/ Asia again and build up my reserves of wonder.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit
As a child, having learned that ducks migrate annually, I insisted
on saving the bathwater in the tub. 'For the ducks'.
I like this. If this is how far we come in the first twenty years,
I can't imagine where we go with the next forty.
