Originally from Manchester (and proud to be so), I've lived in London nigh on seven years and in the south west for just 12 months.
My tastes in almost everything range from the trashy to the, well, not so trashy and I love most kinds of music, television and films. I am a huge theatre fan and have a particular and unashamed love for that of the musical variety. I can go from Barbra Streisand to P J Harvey, Ru Paul's Drag Race to Newsnight and Mean Girls to Hedwig without flinching. Variety spices my life.
I also love a good read. I have left my pretensions behind me and I much prefer a best-seller to a classic. I love poetry too and have a secret stash of my own writings. I also have a novel in me somewhere. Well so the doctor said after the MRI.
As well as reading, my two other passions are music and travel. I play the piano (pretty well), the trombone (well) and the guitar (badly). I also sing - in the shower, by the piano and with a London choir. My other passion was only more recently ignited. Since December last year I have visited Albany, New York, San Francisco and Colombia. The latter was with work and I really thought I'd hate South America - but I loved it. I'll be saving the pennies so I can do more traveling soon - Canada, Japan, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand are all on my list.
I've also recently gotten into the gym and looking after myself more - 28 years too late perhaps - but I enjoy the gym, running and avoiding the biscuit tin at work. Have lost about 5 stone in the past year and am feeling rather like the cat that got the cream right now. Although no cream was or is involved.
Overall, I'd describe myself as pretty normal really - quiet, ambitious, hardworking, a romantic, loyal and happy with my lot.
