My self-summary
I'm a Seattle native on an east coast adventure. I can make most people laugh, myself included. I find that the most mundane scenarios translate into excellent dance moves, and I am more predictable than I wish I were. I think it is wonderful how many cultures have found a way to make delicious food involving stuffed dough.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm a high school English teacher and I love it. Most people are ridiculous, but kids are so much more willing to admit it.
I’m really good at
Talking to people, reading things, reading things and then talking to people about it, singing with my choir or to the sparsely-chorded songs I plunk out on my ukelele.

I'm also really good at dressing up as inanimate objects, though it's been a while since this one's been really useful.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Steinbeck and Hemingway
The Secret of Roan Inish
Terrible sitcoms from the mid-2000s
Most things, but especially where fiddle, cello, or Dylan are involved. I'm trying to get more into bluegrass and/or into the local music scene in Baltimore, though it's tough on a teacher's schedule!
I grew up with an Italian mom and grandmother. I love food.
The six things I could never do without
My family, an ability to play or hear music, good friends, new ideas or issues to feel strongly about, food that tastes awesome.... i'm out.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to reconcile the fact that I went into teaching for social justice reasons with the fact that my current students aren't part of an underserved population. Also how to get my current kids to understand things like privilege, poverty, etc.
On a typical Friday night I am
hanging out with friends and/or recovering from the week with happy hour or a movie.
