My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I don't really know what to say about myself, so I'll cut-and-paste today's entry from Wikipedia:

The 2012 phenomenon comprises a range of eschatological beliefs according to which cataclysmic or transformative events will occur on 21 December 2012. This date is regarded as the end-date of a 5,125-year cycle in the Mesoamerican Long Count calendar. Various astronomical alignments and numerological formulae have been proposed as pertaining to this date, though none have been accepted by mainstream scholarship. A New Age interpretation of this transition is that this date marks the start of a time in which Earth and its inhabitants may undergo a positive physical or spiritual transformation, and that 2012 may mark the beginning of a new era. Others suggest that the date marks the end of the world or a similar catastrophe. Scenarios suggested for the end of the world include the arrival of the next solar maximum, an interaction between Earth and the black hole at the centre of the galaxy, or Earth's collision with a planet called "Nibiru". Scholars from various disciplines have dismissed the idea of such cataclysmic events occurring in 2012. Mayanist scholars state that predictions of impending doom are not found in any of the extant classic Maya accounts, and that the idea that the Long Count calendar "ends" in 2012 misrepresents Maya history and culture. Yeah, eventually I'll write something about me... maybe when Wikipedia gets around to putting an entry about me. Otherwise, if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Also, check out my answers under the Questions tab (I don't know if anyone else reads those besides me) to understand my personality more.

If I visit your profile but don't leave a message, that doesn't necessarily mean that I don't like you. It might mean, I was trying to think of the perfect thing to say but couldn't quite come up with it. Don't let that dissuade you from sending me a message.

Uhhh... Michelle, ma belle, sont des mots something something ... uhhh, ma cherie amour... ohhh les champs elysees... ummm, really why do they want to know that I actually speak French anyhow?? OK, you got me. Je ne parle pas réellement beaucoup français. Heureux maintenant?

Really, Outer Mongolian is closer to what I speak... Apparently I now I have to fill this paragraph with Mongolian to be able to save this page. Sorry, I'm not going to do it! I'm not going to try to prove myself to any snotty webpage that I know some exotic language of a far-off country which I've never been to (and probably can't point out on a map) and that I've just spontaneously claimed I know the language to. It's just going to have to take my word for it! I'm glad they didn't ask me to prove my Farsi, because all I know is Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi-Yi!

I am creative, witty, and a film lover
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Workin' for a living. When I'm not working, I'm usually writing something or other (currently working on a film-noir rock opera called Rockabye Deadman. Hope to begin shooting in September, and maybe after it's finished, the band -- of which I'm a member -- and the actors/singers will tour... maybe around the world? Ask for us to come play in your country!), painting, playing a musical instrument, or some other creative activity.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.

My young-looking appearance despite my actual age. I think has something to do with that painting of me up in an attic somewhere which ages for me. Either that or I'm actually a 900+ years old Timelord.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Books: Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy; Join Me! and Yes Man by Danny Wallace; the Buddha manga series; Bill Willingham's Fables graphic novels; Fear and Loathing In Las Vegas; Stuart Kaminsky's Toby Peters mystery series; The Power of Myth by Joseph Campbell; The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron; The Illuminati Trilogy by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, and the Historical Illuminati Trilogy by R.A.W.

Movies: The Darjeeling Limited (and all other Wes Anderson films); Foreign Correspondent, Vertigo, Rear Window, To Catch a Thief, and many others by Hitchcock; the films of Truffaut -- okay, I know this was supposed to be a "movies" list, but films and their directors are intertwined for me. I generally like offbeat films that you don't know where they're going -- Zero Effect, Brick, Amelie, Memento, The Last Days of Disco, Big Fish, any Monty Python film, Cradle Will Rock (not to be confused with Hand That Rocks The Cradle), Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Cinema Paradiso, Be Kind Rewind, The Big Lebowski (and other Coen Bros. films), Eternal Sunshine, Serenity, Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, etc. I also enjoy classic films, and art house and foreign films. What I don't like are big-budget Hollywood craptaculars without any brains or thoughts as to plot or character...

Music: Beatles, Al Green, jazz, swing, Latin, classical (didn't everyone learn about classical music from Bugs Bunny cartoons??), modern rock/pop such as The Killers, The Shins, The Decemberists, etc. (apparently anything that begins with the prefix "the"), Nina Simone, Elliot Smith, Diana Krall, Neko Case, Johnny Cash, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, The Smiths, Aretha Franklin and other R&B/soul music from 1940s-1970s

Food: Chinese, lasagna, pizza, sushi, Vietnamese, fish and chips

TV: Arrested Development, Spaced, Coupling (UK version), Red Dwarf, Firefly, Veronica Mars, Better Off Ted, Life On Mars (UK and US versions), Ashes to Ashes. Okay, I know that all those shows are no longer currently running, so here are some more recent ones: Modern Family (heir to the Arrested Development throne), nu Dr. Who, Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, Chuck, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report

Also, my favorite comedian is the late, great Bill Hicks
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Coffee, scotch, a hot shower, my cat, a computer, and creativity. Hmmm, if I could somehow rewrite "scotch" and "a hot shower" as beginning with a "C," this section would be almost completely alliterate.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
