My self-summary
My mantra: Do more of what makes you happy.

I am actively in search of moments of ordinary happiness and occasional transcendence. Who isn't?

I live in an eccentric, historic building designed by an eccentric artist and still am only a block away from a 24-hour Walgreens, a 24-hour diner, a 24-hour Starbucks, and the park. And a corner dive with a 4 am license. I know most of the dogs in the neighborhood and their owners by association. In other words, a real neighborhood. What more could a girl need?

Well, I would like someone who would text me fond and funny things during the day, cheer me up when needed, and be physically and emotionally and intellectually present in my life in good ways. I like happiness more than drama. I am reasonably calm even when functioning at high speeds.

Some random things about me:
>I truly believe in the value of kindness.
>Oral fixations include talking, tasting, kissing, among others. I did, however, give up smoking long ago.
>I don't think I look like my pictures because they all seem to look very different. Perhaps my charms are elusive.

My best friends have been around for a long, long time. I am a gregarious hermit, but I like to get to know new people and new places. I tend to indulge my natural curiosity, and I'm always looking for little adventures.

I lead a rich imaginary domestic life, in which I garden, give delightful dinner parties, and always have flowers in the house and a fire in the fireplace. One day I'm sure this will all come together. Once I get all this laundry done.
What I’m doing with my life
I am a fundraising and planning consultant to not-for-profit organizations--primarily arts and cultural organizations--helping to strengthen their ability to do the good work they do. I love my work and I love the fact that I have the opportunity to meet smart, committed people every day.

I am a volunteer for a couple of arts and architecture organizations.

And I'm always trying to learn to speak French so that I can be a politician's mistress in Paris one day.
I’m really good at
I'm smart, but I'm still funny.
I'll make you laugh: promise.
I'm very tactile.
I'm really good at discovering hidden gems (and lucky pennies).
I cook in several languages and I'm pretty good at it.
I'm thoughtful and curious and caring. And cute and curvy and charming. Alliterative, but not annoyingly so.
I may be kind of a smartass, but my heart and my enthusiasms are sincere.
The first things people usually notice about me
Great hair.
Not shy.
Verbal.
Cute shoes!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
"Fela!," "Spring Awakening", especially Bill T. Jones' choreography, Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, the urban Jew novelists: Bellow, Roth, et. al., though I love their antitheses, John Updike most of all, the novels of William Boyd, Eudora Welty, "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf," the finale of "Candide," almost anything about New Orleans, books about houses and gardens, "Days of Heaven,""The Godfather Parts 1 and 2," "Wings of Desire," "Clueless," "Hoarders." Though I know i am in a minority, Terence Malick's "Tree of Life" made me ecstatically happy, and I was not on drugs any of the times I saw it. I love being near the water, almost anywhere. I am learning to scull.
The six things I could never do without
a lot of books, 2 dogs, a garden of some sort, a glass of good wine, the idea of living in Paris. (but I lost one of my two dogs last winter and am in search of the right companion to my 12-year-old cairn who rules my house and heart).
I spend a lot of time thinking about
my next get-rich-quick scheme.

You should message me if
you are someone who is curious about the world, who reads, who likes to discover new things. I'm looking for little adventures. I really just want to play--so funny, definitely funny. Kind of charming-goofy is nice. And smart. Attentive to the world around us. A talker who is nonetheless willing to listen. A toucher.

Good with your hands. Good kisser (see oral fixations above).

A chef would be nice, if you're still willing to make me dinner. Or teach me Italian wines. Or makes a definitive cochinita pibil.

If you own too many books, stationery, and one good pen.

You are someone who has a sense of purpose, kindness, manners. If you visit your grandmother and are nice to people on the bus.

Extra points if you can fix things.
Double extra points if you can take me places I've never been, despite my years in the city.
