My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
i was born and raised in the suburbs of richmond and i moved into the city for college. flash forward 15 years: i'm still here and a homeowner to boot. how'd that happen?

i enjoy a good mix of keeping busy and being lazy. i adore new gadgets, geeking out on some new way to be self-sustaining, yoga and semi-regular trips to the gym. there is nothing better than sitting in front of the fire on a cold day, lounging around in your pj's on a sunday morning, relaxing by the pool with a good book or hiking the rockin' trails in the james river park system. i like hanging out with friends and just being chill when i'm not toiling away. i'm looking for someone who enjoys good music, going out occasionally, enjoys being outdoors, is willing to leave the west end bubble, and thinks nerdy girls are the best.

i have a slightly wacky sense of humor, so making me laugh is a must. basically, like everyone else, i want someone who knows me and still wants to wake up beside me in the morning.

i'm looking for a partner not a caretaker and prefer the easygoing to the chaotic. i want someone who is happy with himself and is able to take responsibility for that happiness, someone who wants to spend time together and be in a real relationship, not just 'hook up' when they're in the mood. i'm too old for that. honesty, communication, and respect are necessary qualities. being reasonably intelligent is pretty important too. anything else can be worked out along the way.

to head off the i've never been married, no i don't have children, and if i knew why i'm still single at 39 i wouldn't be on ok cupid.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
a whole lot of what i love and trying to do it well.

hanging out with an amazing group of friends, snuggling with my pups and keeping busy with all sorts of random projects that pop into my head.

the only thing missing is someone to share it with.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
walking, talking, chewing gum (and on a good day all three at once!), cooking, gardening, stating my opinion, being crafty, spouting off random facts on a variety of topics, drinking wine, doing stupid stuff and making people smile.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
my eyes, my smile or that my backside is bootylicious. seriously though, who knows? i don't ask people what they notice about me.

i'm currently on a bluegrass, american folk kick, but i can usually get behind most singer/songwriters of a certain sound. think amos lee, citizen cope, avett brothers, etc.

if i'm in the mood for alcohol, it's either vodka or wine, mostly because they are delicious and make me happy.

mashed potatoes, a good steak, the yummy cheesy goodness that is homemade mac and cheese, indian food, pad thai, eating local and growing my own veggies (not as easy as one would think) and just about anything with one or more of the following: bacon, butter, gravy, or chocolate.

star talk with NDT, anything joss whedon is attached to, british period movies (because i'm a romantic at heart)

there are too many books to list. i'll just say i read. a lot.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
i don't actually require anything, but the following sure make life tolerable:

my pups
vodka and/or wine
my north face fleece
internet goodness
something to read
my pool pass
SPF 30
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
how can I be a better me...

why the dogs have to get up and follow every time I leave the room, even though they know i'm coming right back...

why does tree sperm hate me so...

is staff robot just playing a cruel joke on us all...
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
working, part deux, and usually done too late to care about finding shenanigans. now saturday...that's a different story. well, not really, i'm usually working then too.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
i killed a man in reno, just to watch him die.

seriously though, that's not for the interwebs.

you believe actions speak louder than words.

being liberal isn't a bad thing

you've got an opening line better than 'hi!'

you know how to ask questions. making random statements in an email will not get a response. if you want an answer, you need to feign a little interest and for pete's sake, sign your name!

you actually want to go out on a date, not message or text back and forth till Hillary Clinton is president.
