My self-summary
Hello, thanks for visiting.

A life goal of mine is to have as many rich sensory experiences as possible -- I enjoy tasting food that is made with care; when I listen to music, I sit down and pay attention to it; I like to go on long hikes to see the view from the top of the mountain -- and let me tell you what I enjoy regarding touch after we've had a couple of dates :)

I love to travel. I am curious about our world and the people in it. I find myself often trading a bit of discomfort for unique experiences -- spend two weeks in the desert to build an art project? Let's go. I find it easy to say no to something well understood and safe, in favor of doing something new or going somewhere unexplored.

I've had this profile for a while, and I've had relationships with multiple people before -- but right now I want to focus on getting one long-ish term relationship right. I do have people in my life who are important to me and who will stay in my life, but none of them live on this continent. Ultimately, I'm looking for someone who is interested in co-creating a life together with me. I also acknowledge that this takes time to establish, and so in the short term, I am looking to have some fun along the way.

When this thing made me pick an orientation, I described myself as bisexual, but more accurately: I like people. Gender isn't the most important thing; it's just another attribute, like hair colour or stature. The substance of the person I'm attracted to, and the quality of our connection is what is important to me.

Ok, some more things about me:

I enjoy being active: biking, yoga, climbing.
I enjoy being artistic: photography, drawing.

I'm about 66% successful at trying to meditate every day this year so far.

I prefer connecting deeply with one or a few people rather than connecting shallowly with many people.

I value curiosity, self sufficiency, and the attitude of working to improve the world (as opposed to just getting by in it). I constantly challenge myself to improve and to live up to my own expectations.

I thrive on change -- I've just moved to Denmark from Canada -- but ultimately I want to find a little stability, maybe dynamic stability, with a partner in my life.
What I’m doing with my life
Going back to school to change careers after a decade of working as a programmer/technical manager.
Training to climb harder.
Looking for adventure.
Finding compassion.
I’m really good at
- planning and being organized
- throwing out the plan and being spontaneous
- solving puzzles
- giving massages
- getting people to understand each other
- beer snobbery
The first things people usually notice about me
My smile. I smile a lot, and people tell me that I smile with my whole face.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books -- I read a lot and widely. So instead of going for all time favourites (how would I choose?), my Kindle tells me the last 10 books I read are:
* Supper of the Lamb -- Robert Capon
* Nexus -- Ramez Naam
* The Timeless Way of Building -- Christopher Alexander
* A Genetic Switch -- Mark Ptashne
* Siddhartha -- Herman Hesse
* Welcome to the Monkey House -- Kurt Vonnegut
* The Hunger Games -- Suzanne Collins
* The Book -- Alan Watts
* Reality is Broken -- Jane McGonigal
* Anarchism and other Essays -- Emma Goldman

Games -- I like to play alternate physics games:
* Braid
* Portal and Portal2
* Fez
The six things I could never do without
- curiosity; exploring and figuring out how things work
- silence
- friends who share new ideas with me
- sunshine
- undo close tab
- the Krebs cycle
I spend a lot of time thinking about
How life works on a molecular level.

How the world would be a better place if more of it followed Christopher Alexander's "A Pattern Language".

How we can reinvent our infrastructure to be sustainable, beautiful and popular.

Why math works to describe the world.
On a typical Friday night I am
dead tired. After finishing school/work and working out, I'm probably at home falling asleep reading a new book.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I don't have the gene that lets me smell the chemical that (ostensibly) makes pee smell funny after eating asparagus.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 29–35
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For long-term dating
You should message me if
I've just moved to Denmark, so message me if you want to show me something awesome about your city.

Or, if you are interested in getting together to:
* have coffee and interesting conversation
* wander around the city and make photos
* go climbing

Or, just if you live a life that is full of curiosity and joy.
