Hi, my name is Matthew and I believe striving for goals and being the best you can be is one of the most important things for an individual. Being creative and intelligent are two very important traits that I greatly respect in a human being and are usually the things I admire when it comes to meeting new people.

I am looking for a down to earth woman who is strong, independent, intelligent, goal oriented, free spirited and open minded to many different cultures. She must be warm hearted, family oriented, has a sarcastic and witty sense of humor, and also enjoys mentally stimulating conversations; as well as silly and humourous ones.

I have an associates degree in Broadcasting and am now currently back in school full time to recieve my bachelors degree in Film Studies. I will be continuing to go for more schooling after I recieve my bachelors because I want to strive and go for a film teaching degree which demands a masters or PHD.

Personal passions of mine have always been the arts, film, music, literature, psychology and history. I enjoy having existential conversations, or serious debates on religion and politics. Exercising the mind and being open to hear other people's opinions and ideas is always a great thing! I try my best to confront my mistakes and character flaws and am always open to hear from family and friends the things I need to work on and change to better myself as a human being.

The first things people notice about me is that I am a very friendly and outgoing individual, who is always open in listening to others. I don't like people who are negative or depressive and even though I can view people and the world as slightly bleak, absurd and pessimistic; I know how to poke fun at it and have a good sense of humor about it all.

I am in school for film studies so some of my favorite films are 'art films.' I have so many favorite films but a few of them are Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander, Charlie Chaplin's City Lights, Akira Kurosawa's Ikiru, Francois Truffaut's The 400 Blows, and Andrei Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev. I take the art of film very seriously and greatly admire and respect film artists like Ozu, Hitchcock, Mitzoguchi, Kubrick, Bresson, Wilder, Fellini, Ford, Bunuel, Hawks, Welles, Lubitsch, Dreyer, Renoir and Allen.

Don't get me wrong, I also love present films which include Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, No Country for Old Men, American Beauty, Brokeback Mountain, Donnie Darko, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, There Will Be Blood, Lost in Translation, Pans Labyrinth, Mulholland Drive, Cache, Moonrise Kingdom, The Lives of Others, Sideways, The Pianist and Let the Right One in. I also have my own film site titled classicartfilms.com, where I write extensive film essays on several of my favorite art films.

I love oldies like Sam Cooke, The Righteous Brothers, The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Pink Floyd, Ray Charles and Simon and Garfunkel, and a lot of newer obscure music like Bjork, Flaming Lips, RadioHead, U2, Sigur Ros, Arcade Fire, Bright Eyes and The Smiths. I enjoy some classical music from time to time as well including some Bach and Mozart and I greatly dislike rap, death metal, country and hip hop. (I will never understand the interest in listening to that type of music, especially rap.)

Some of my favorite books are The Catcher in the Rye, A Clockwork Orange, Schindler's List, In Cold Blood and Of Mice and Men.

If I had to choose six things that I would greatly struggle with if I lost them, they would be:

2. Friends
3. Health

5. Music

I probably spend a lot of time thinking about money, my future, school, health, and my life goals.

If I don't have a paper to write or any studying to do for my classes, I usually head to the gym, go for a run or call up a few friends of mine and we either go out for a few drinks near the area or head downtown on the east side. Love the outdoors, nature walking and even though I'm not a sports fan I enjoy going to games.

Those are things I will discuss with someone I know better.
