I'm funny, honest, a bit of a smartypants, generous, a little
strong-willed. I'm pretty fun and pretty game. I value curiosity,
kindness, appetite, surprise, rigor, a capacity for joy, and if you
make me laugh regularly, you've got me.
What I’m doing with my life
I run a small but well-regarded theater company focused on new
work. I love it, mostly. You don't have to. Cough up a little
respect and occasional curiosity and that'll do. Please be
passionate about whatever you do, whether it's what pays the bills
Otherwise-- I love to cook, bake, read, delight at the occasional
urban adventure, travel when I can, and lots and lots of walking
keeps me sane. Love to go out to eat, but love a dinner party more.
Happy whenever I hear live music or go a museum or the movies and
wish I did more often. I find deep, dorky solace in jigsaw puzzles.
I’m really good at
Where I'm from you don't talk about yourself like this. Ack! Ok...
according to my nephews, I make a mean pie (cherry,
nectarine/blueberry, tomato/cheese, even). I'm a loyal friend. I
can pick things up with my toes, and can usually finish the
Professionally-- analyzing text, talent and personality (and
inferring the latter two from the former); in other words, my job.
That sounds pretentious and intense, doesn't it? I'm not that
scary. But I do appreciate proofreading.
The first things people usually notice about me
I have a good amount of curly reddish hair. Otherwise, it depends
what one is looking for, doesn't it?
I'm no yoga teacher but have a nice body. I've been told I have to
post a full body picture, because otherwise the assumption is that
I'm a secret giant fatty. You might just have to gamble.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
In the last few months read Shadows on the Hudson, Pastoralia, The
Goldfinch, and Olive Kitteridge, all of which I enjoyed immensely.
Just started Patrick Melrose anthology. Last LBJ installment is
waiting for me, patiently.
I liked Friends With Money, Under the Skin and Grand Hotel
Budapest, the most recent movies I've seen.
I love food, whether I'm making it or eating out. I'm happy with a
cheeto or a bouillabaisse, and ecstatic with a stinky cheese.
The six things I could never do without
my pathologically friendly dog
a nice hot bath
the morning paper
every possible variety of spinach pie
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Sadly, how to raise more money; what I'm forgetting; how to be
better to the environment; what I am going to eat next
On a typical Friday night I am
At the theater. But maybe there's dinner out after. Or maybe people
over for dinner! Or maybe slumped on the sofa eating crackers and
watching bad tv, if it's been that kind of week.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once dreamt that I was at the Whitney and crapped in the Claes
Oldenburg Soft Toilet.
You should message me if
...you are curious! And if you live nearish to downtown Manhattan,
are close-ish to my age, etc. Being the first to reach out isn't my
strength, so I'm afraid you'll have to be the one to write
I took a big long break from this -- we're in the middle of our
lives, they are busy, right?-- but am trying to get on board again.
Help me out?
