My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I'm into music and art, science and history. I go to concerts & museums, libraries & lectures. I enjoy wandering the city, checking out architecture and neighborhoods. I like watching weird movies and interesting documentaries. I'm usually on a bike ride around the city, or taking a visit to the ocean, the desert, or the mountains. I play vinyl records, steal mp3 files, and tune my radio to KXLU 88.9 FM.

“this Marcovaldo possessed an eye ill suited to city life: billboards, traffic lights, shop windows, neon signs, posters, no matter how carefully devised to catch the attention, never arrested his gaze, which might have been running over the desert sands. Instead, he would never miss a leaf yellowing on a branch, a feather trapped by a roof-tile; there was no horse fly on a horse’s back, no worm-hole in a plank, or fig-peel squashed on this sidewalk that Marcovaldo did not remark and ponder over, discovering the changes of season, the yearning of his heart and the woes of his existence.”
Marcovaldo - Italo Calvino
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I check out live music a few times a week, museums and galleries a few times a month, sometimes it is the other way around.

I work at a university researching the long term history of the oceans and the continents, modeling the patterns of nature via plate tectonics and geo-dynamics.

I travel once a month or so, up and down California for friends and family, around the World for work and play.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Building and destroying LEGO.
Organizing a garage.
Building IKEA furniture
(maybe that follows from the first two items??)
Bar-B-Q-ing and mixing drinks.
Staying up all night.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
the 'Hello my name is:' sticker I refuse to remove.

I like Books with short stories and essays from Vonnegut, Keret, Borges, and Calvino. My shelves hold mostly non-fiction & history - short stories & poetry - atlases & references.

A collection of classic sci-fi, fantasy, comics, and graphic novels is safely stored in the garage, awaiting discovery by my nieces and nephews.

Food & Drink

Some of my favorite foods were originally created in Mexico, India, and Thailand. Excellent examples can now be found right here in Los Angeles, enjoyed by the side of a truck, at a hole-in-the-wall restaurant, during a pop-up storefront, and especially, during a neighborhood block party.

Local places I often return to: Pattaya Bay, Figaro Bistro, and McCall's, here in Los Feliz; Forage, Mixto, and Broom Street in Silver Lake; Savan Markets in Glendale; India Sweets & Spices, the Village Bakery, and Links-n-Hops in Atwater; Red Hill in Echo Park.

I'm always happy to enjoy a great meal at the various branches of Señor Fish, Spitz, and Zankou, all across our city.

I like most of the beers from Stone, Golden Road, the Eagle Rock Brewery, and often get good advice from the folks at Covell, 1642, the Hermosillo Club, and the Sunset Beer Company.

I enjoy strong gin gimlets, and bourbon straight up.
