I am stern, endearing, and odd.
My Self-Summary
Lo! (Short for "hello", also the opposite of high, or hi if you're
spelling's off) the name is Matt, but since every other 3rd or 4th
guy you meet has the name I tend to go by my last name because: a)
I'm a teacher and it is what I'm used to hearing. b)having a really
German sounding
last name in this city tends to mean no one else gets it confused
with them. Though it does mean people are usually calling me " Mr.
White" it's ok, I forget his demeanor in Reservoir Dogs, it's still
a cool connotation in my head.
As can probably be gleaned, when Im not braindead from work I'm
usually jumping about when it comes to what I'm thinking. Ill
debate anything, allow just about anything as a way of life, and
believe nothing, and no one is above ridicule, even if it is just
in jest.
I like biking, making
beer, people watching,
reading, and a lot of things you
might find boring. Which is fine, everyone has their own
tastes.
** Important footnote: People who always find reading a chore
usually don't mesh with me.
TLDR: Blah blah blah Me, blah blah blah
What I’m doing with my life
I'm teaching Special Ed. Inclusion in El Paso, TX. Paying off my
debts and trying to figure out what I want from life and from who
to get it. The end of that sentence makes me sound a little
demanding I think but, Im beginning to see what I really want in
life and don't want to bide all my time just waiting for it to fall
into my lap so to speak.
I'm honestly trying to get out of this city within the year, and
hopefully
teaching overseas or working
on my
masters in
Austin.
I’m really good at
Sticking things out, if I've bothered to make a commitment Ill
stick to it and I expect the same from those around me. People who
continually flake on you, or don't practice what they preach aren't
worth it I find.
I'm good at rambling, and over analyzing also making sushi if you
ask my students, but I think that's mainly because its fun grossing
out the other students who think its alive or gross.
This is an old line I've had in my profile since its inception. I
still like it:
I find myself befuddled and awkward a lot, sort of like Hugh Grant
except neither British nor charming.
The first things people usually notice about me
Usually it's a horrible joke I'm telling.
Beyond that everyone says I look like someone they know, or knew so
I guess I blend in.
My students notice that I'm white because apparently that's not
allowed in the barrio so that is what I hear about most often.
My favorite books, movies, music, and food
Book: Anything by Laurie Nortaro- she does humor books but is very
good at self depreciating humor which i love, Chuck Palhinuk- Some
of his stuff is hit or miss but i still love the ideas he puts into
my head Tucker Max- Funny and chauvenistic, go to his site
tuckermax.com and read the anal sex story!
Movie: I couldn't say all of them but Wes Anderson's later work (
Life aquatic & Darjeeling Limited), stuff adapted from books,
and ones with Steve Martin or Gene Wilder. I do hate action movies
that rely on the flying Crouching tiger fighting shit, I'm not sure
why it just really bugs me.
Music: Mighty Bosstones, The Offspring, Pretty girls make graves,
Pretty much everything I can listen to while I drive, I also find
that ska seems to be having a revival, I feel 10 years younger and
at 25 sadly I can remember 10 years ago.
Food: Anything with garlic or asparagus, but especially sushi or
mexican
The six things I could never do without
My car
My family
The internet
Beer
also beer
motivation
And even the first and 3rd are optional, moving a lot means I try
to keep it light now
I spend a lot of time thinking about
"The day that the child realizes all adults are imperfect, he
becomes an adolescent; the day he forgives them, he becomes an
adult." -Alden Nowlan
" The day the child forgives himself he becomes wise." - Same
guy
The book, "I don't Believe in Atheists." Being fairly agnostic it's
nice to see someone with a sane outlook towards things on the other
side of the fence. Also things like this, other times very less
serious like the comic SMBC
On a typical Friday night I am
Sleeping, seriously after teaching and like 2 beers I'm usually
done, how lame is that? To be fair I wake up at midnight, but I
dislike loud bars and there's no such thing as a 24 hour Barnes and
Noble so I'm out of luck I guess.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit here
I hate rats. Like Indiana jones style.
You should message me if
You have nothing to do and can deal with the fact that I suffer
from foot in mouth disease
FMD usually once per day.
Also if Ive messaged you and it seems lame, please speak up, I tend
to get my ass in gear the closer I know I am to the fire so to
speak.
