I’m am an adventurous, creative woman who loves to travel, loves the arts, literature, liberal ideas. I am a retired photographer, still doing volunteer photography around the Bay Area with a smattering of weddings and events. Would you like to go to a photography workshop with me in India? Are you a young 70-ish man, probably bookish, maybe a writer, maybe a jazz fan, with a full life of friends and family but willing and wanting to take on a relationship for fun, warmth, comfort, and intimacy? Are you looking for a wise, experienced, self-accepting, amusing companion? I am. Can you deal with a little white mutt of a dog who loves guests, and an old sweet cat with a terrible limp?
I studied Anthropology at UCB, and eventually studied photojournalism and worked at a local daily. Photography combined my interests in cultures, travel, and art. For several years I’ve been part of a group of photographers who teach photography to street kids in Haiti. A few are now professional photographers. All have learned new skills to make their way in a tough world.
Palo Alto is a very comfortable place to live. I just long for a bit more grit - like live music and mixed cultures. Open to suggestions!?
And speaking of mixed cultures, my family has mixed the gene pool considerably. It makes for fascinating family gatherings.
I have one daughter, who is a massage therapist/songwriter, and a wise woman.
What I’m doing with my life
This past year I've been fixing up my house, culling my belongings, concentrating on people I love.
Reading, taking photography workshops, Zumba exercise, and long walks in the morning, volunteering. Just took a trip to Cuba with a jazz group.
I’m really good at
Photographing children. Cooking. Losing things. Listening. Seeing
the humor in little things.
The first things people usually notice about me
I would imagine people notice my height. I try to appear bigger
with a big personality, but I don't know how people see me, really.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
My favorite book is usually the one I'm reading. Just now it is California by Kevin Starr and Joan of Arc by Mark Twain. Love old blues, jazz, grilled vegetables.
The six things I could never do without
My daughter, my big beautiful extended family, the summer cabin on the American River.
Morning lattes. Mellow piano jazz. Back rubs. Turquoise, silver, jeans. Book stores. Pedicures. Reading in the late afternoon sun.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I can contribute to balance this crazy imbalanced world.
On a typical Friday night I am
Hanging out with friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I once spent a month on a homemade sail boat with a crazy man.
You should message me if
You like me. You are a kind heart, self-accepting and happy. I
would love to talk to you.
