I grew up in the East Bay, went to UCB, and found my way to the Peninsula via marriage. My family has embraced the modern way, mixing different ethnicities into our cultural stew. I'll probably move back across the bay sometime soon to be part of the diversity. Or to SF, or maybe ?..
I used to travel alone to Central America. If not as adventurous as I once was, (I'm taking my first group tour trip since i was 13 this year, to Turkey), traveling will be a big part of my future.
What I'd like to find on okcupid are friends who are fun, intelligent, stimulating and easy going. I hope i can prove to mean the same to them. It's not necessary to be a big achiever or super intellectual, because I'm not! Romance would be the icing on the cake, but I can be happy with just cake. I must admit a great comfort around short men.
I've been volunteering at the Ecumenical Hunger Progam in East Palo Alto, and for NGO's doing photo work (in Africa, Mexico and Peru) and for 3 years have been teaching photography to street kids in Haiti.
I don't play sports. I do see a lot of movies, have my De Young museum membership, go to the Meetup operas, and follow my daughter when she plays and sings and give dinner parties.
In the Spring each year I take candid photos of children in nursery schools, which I'll keep doing until I can't get up off the floor anymore.

I've been culling my belongings, concentrating on the people I love, and loving my life.

I would imagine people notice my height. I try to appear bigger with a big personality, but I don't know how people see me, really.

Historical novels, biographies and memoirs. Just finished (12/12) Birds Without Wings and The Fall of Giants. Mysteries for airplane reading.
The black humor side of me loves Quentin Tarantino movies. also love romantic comedies and anything smart.
Could live on grilled vegetables.
Love mellow jazz, r&b, New Orleans jazz, 60's music. Vivaldi and Puccini.
Belong to a Bad Movie Club, and our choices are mostly above our standards.

My daughter, my big beautiful extended family, the summer cabin on the American River, the old home in Jamaica. Friends, traveling almost anywhere.
PLUS! Morning lattes. Mellow piano jazz. Back rubs. Turquoise, silver, jeans. Book stores. Pedicures. Reading in the late afternoon sun. Card games, NPR, Scrabble.
