My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
I had pretty cool parents, so I made it through childhood without any racism, homophobia, transphobia, or misogyny at home and it rubbed off. I've considered myself a feminist since I first heard the word; when I hated sports, my mom introduced me to musical theatre; I got a nose piercing and dyed my hair pink. (I no longer perform theatre, have piercings, or dye my hair. Just a lonely tattoo.) Growing up, I could read any book I wanted regardless of its language and content. (I read Cujo at age 8 thanks to a loan from grandma!) I think I turned out okay.

I also know how to dance a bit (Lindy hop and blues), so there's that. And before you read further you need to know three things: I have cats, silly hobbies and a SO who isn't going anywhere.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Things I do with no regularity: travel, scuba dive, dance and run... And watch Netflix. Lots of Netflix.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
I'm pretty decent at keeping calm under pressure (even at gunpoint), typing with a cat on my wrists, and I make a kick ass sazerac.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
It's probably that I talk to people who have yet to have their morning coffee and I refuse to learn that this is a bad idea. If I sleep in, I probably haven't shaved.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

I need to shorten this. Scroll down really fast if you want a little mystery.

Books: Recent ones: Girl on a Train, Young God, The Martian, Edible Woman
Movies: I like most genres of film, as long as there's a strong narrative, and all the John Hughes films. If you suggest a movie, chances are that I'll go see it with you.
TV: The Fall, The Bridge, Parenthood, The Good Wife, and those HBO ones.
Music: I realized recently that, while I used to be quite up on music, I am no longer. Any recommendations?
Artists/Designers: Peter Saville, Margaret Killgallen (I have a tattoo of one of her drawings), Chris Ware, Vaughn Oliver, Robert Mcginnis, and Rodrigo Corral.
Comedians: Tig Notaro, Mike Birbiglia, Maria Bamford, Eugene Mirman, Jen Kirkman, Amy Schumer, John Mulaney, and Mitch Hedberg.
Podcasts: James Bonding, Savage Love, Judge John Hodgman, Worst Idea of All Time, Say Wha?!, and the one I make (which is less than stellar, and in not being self-effacing.)
Fonts: Electra, Fairfield and Metro (W.A. Driggins); Gill Kayo; Bureau Grotesque; and the non-digitized Tempo Light and Sill TV Square Gothic.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
Beyond the usual basics:
• things that hold my interest
• affectionate people (and cats)
• good books
• music to dance to
• and New York City
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Typography, Photoshop and composition, and why my desk is a perpetual mess at home, but super neat at work.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
About the only constant is that I'll likely start my night with a cocktail (a lazy Manhattan or Old Fashioned if I don't feel like getting too fancy). I've been working all week, so I deserve it.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't really like eating with other people. I don't dislike it, I'd just rather spend my time doing anything but.
You should message me if
Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
you can suggest an amazing book;
you know some kick-ass running music;
you nerd out about something;
you know who Dan Savage is (or better still, Sex Nerd Sandra); or
you're the darling of the discotheque crowd.

But let's just do tea (or coffee) first.

I tend to write brief messages, mostly. Blame text messaging and/or Tinder. And writing long emails reminds me of work.

For the record, I am in an open relationship with a fantastic partner. I really the social aspect of dating and I enjoy meeting/dating new people. I'm looking for someone who wants to catch a movie, take a dances class, or just grab a cup of tea and complain about their day and, if there's chemistry, see where it goes.
