My self-summary
I normally have a better photo up, but I'm avoiding running into coworkers on here (first impressions, etc.), there seem to be a few.

I'm looking forward to stopping freelance work for awhile, and in my free time i like to write and usually have a pile of unfinished projects ahead of them. I tend to work on them slowly a little bit at a time.
What I’m doing with my life
My day job is design-based and I love it.

After work, I spend my free time writing, catching up on tv shows, and I'm currently building up the nerve for my scuba lessons and the being underwater part that will follow.
I’m really good at
Keeping calm under pressure—even at gunpoint in the Amazon; typing with a cat on my wrists; making cocktails.
The first things people usually notice about me
If you're here, it'll be this profile. This isn't an accurate portrait unless you only want to talk to me about movies and television, and whether or not I'm photogenic.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm a "taste hunter", so if you read, enjoy music, and can sit through films of more than one genre, we're sure to find some common ground. Feel free to skip this section.

Books: The Devil in the White City (non-fiction), History of Love, Middlesex, An Angel at My Table, The Ethical Slut, Building Stories, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, and The Elements of Typographic Style. I read about a book a week. Every year, I also read whatever book wins the Edgar Allen Poe award. I'm more interested in if someone reads than what books they choose to read. (I read exactly 52 books last year.)

Movies: I can quote huge sections of Some Kind of Wonderful, and The Princess Bride. I also love old noir films and anything with a decent plot. Somedays, I'll toss a coin to see if MK&AO's It Takes Two is better than Citizen Kane.

Shows: Doctor Who, The Wire, Parenthood, The Good Wife, Game of Thrones, and Adventure Time!

Music: I don't listen to a lot of metal, opera, salsa or classical, but I'm good with most everything else. I like to put my iTunes on shuffle so that Sammy Davis, Jr., Camera Obscura, Die Antwoord, Paul Simon, and things I've yet to hear, play with no discretion. It can be jarring.

Artists/Designers: Peter Saville, Margaret Killgallen (I have a tattoo of one of her drawings), Chris Ware, Vaughn Oliver, Robert Mcginnis, and Rodrigo Corral.

Food: Cottleston pie.

Games: Chess, Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride.

Comedians: Tig Notaro, Mike Birbiglia, Maria Bamford, Eugene Mirman, Jen Kirkman, Amy Schumer, John Mulhany, and Mitch Hedberg.

Dislikes: White Teeth, every Woody Allen film, Black Sabbath, Latin rhythms, ice skating, The Doors, cauliflower, pumpkin, coffee, and overusing the Oxford comma.
The six things I could never do without
Assuming all the non-material things are taken care of:
☞ potato chips
☞ moonlight
☞ motor trips
☞ good books
☞ New York (in June)

How about you?
I spend a lot of time thinking about
In the 1940s did kids sit around making lists of their top 5 desert island 78s? In preparation for my desert island stranding, I'm compiling the top 60,000 songs I'd have on my iPhone.
On a typical Friday night I am
Fridays can be a quiet night in with Netflix, on my balcony with a cocktail, catching up with freelance work, or out on the town.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I bought an A-List membership (for one month only) just so I could change my username. I'm not sure it's any better.
