My self-summary
Slightly odd guy. Initially a bit distant and strange in self-expression, but don't let that scare you.

In that same vein: I thought that betting myself to read 24 books this year would be a fair bet. I hit that goal in June. Thus far, I've read 42.

Other than that, I'm what most people would call a nerd, although this doesn't mean I run around like a degenerate and spout cryptic nonsense all the time.

Just sometimes.
What I’m doing with my life
Finishing my university studies in mathematics, with a specialization on cryptography.

I'm also working a student job at the University's comp department.

Lots of other little side hobbies, but I've recently started getting back into photography again.
I’m really good at
The nerdy things in life and intellectual stuff. I'm also good at not budging from my opinion without good reasons. ;)

Other than that, I'm fairly good at organizing stuff, keeping calm, procrastination, and standing somewhere absent-mindedly because I just went off at a tangent exploring some strange idea.

And I'm a good for bouncing any new ideas off me, since I tend to look at things differently.

I'm especially good at just making up stuff on the go - for example lots of padding material to get the profile completion marker up since it requires having a one thousand word profile.

Along with that skill comes the need to be able to ignore strange looks as you're rambling, but that's a given for any sane sociopath.
The first things people usually notice about me
... depends on where they meet me.

Either I'm being rather reserved because I don't know anyone around me, or I'm being -sometimes overly- jolly in the company of others.

Well, or I'm slouching in front of the laptop and ignoring the world around me, but then again, usually you don't meet me that way.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Books come in a lot of shapes and sizes, but in general, I tend towards reading good science fiction or fantasy books. I do enjoy 'normal' and classical literature, too, but they do come behind the other genres.
Some examples include books from Terry Pratchett, Alaistair Reynolds, Iain M. Banks and Neil Gaiman. Some non-fantasy stuff I like would be 'The Unbearable Lightness of Being' by Milan Kundera or 'Das focaultsche Pendel' by Umberto Eco.

Movies are a bit of a varied topic - I can enjoy dumb action movies as well as sophisticated, thoughtful movies. I'm just at war with dumb American comedies - American Pie, Scary Movie, that stuff. Other than that, I can't really name a favourite movie.

Music is an ever-changing topic with me. I'm in a phase where I really like post-rock music. Other seasonings include metal, a bit of electronica, acoustic and Irish folk.

I'm picky about food. I'm not that hostile about trying out new stuff, but if you love German food, you can rest assured that I'll never steal from your plate.
The six things I could never do without
* my wit
* civilization
* friends
* full mobility
* laughter
* fornication

Though, as experience tells me, I'm actually pretty adaptable to most situations. With maybe just a bit of moaning.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Trivial stuff. I don't usually need long to form an opinion on important matters, as long as there's logic involved.

I also tend to go off at a tangent thinking things up from a keyword during a lecture or from an experience in life. According to others, I sometimes even tend to look frozen in place.

I'm a sucker for negative thinking loops in emotion-related matters, though.
On a typical Friday night I am
... not having a typical Friday night. Might be anywhere from out to a event to at friends or gaming or coding.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
... that I didn't check "casual sex" at first because I thought that it would make me look bad.
I’m looking for
  • Girls who like guys
  • Ages 19–28
  • Near me
  • For new friends
You should message me if
... you think you're up for it and don't get annoyed by a hypocritical cynic.

Or something like that.

You should not message me if you think that partying is the most important thing in the world or if you find daytime television mentally engrossing.
