I'm an easy going, fun Irish guy. I've been living in the bay area for almost 14 years, and love being here. I am pretty settled here now and don't have any plans to up and move back to Ireland.

I sorta fell in to the tech industry out of college (had been studying business), and ended up moving here a couple of years after a college when I got offered a job.

I am still with the same company 14 years later, and it has seen some low points and some highs too.

Much as I love the bay area and SF itself, I do love to get away now again, and see new cities, experience new cultures, and even go back to old favorites now and again (Las Vegas), and I try to get back to Ireland once a year or so.

What else can I say about myself ... hmmm, I dunno, ask me anything want to know and I will be happy to reply.

Work and play ... or at least trying to maintain a good balance between them, more on the play side than the work side :-)

Listening, providing support, being there for my partner in times of need. I'll pick you up when are down, bring you out and "paint the town red", or just sit in watch a movie and hold you and comfort you in my arms if you're not in the mood to go out.

I'm also a great travel partner, for the times you just want to jump on a plane and get away for a long weekend and escape from the "regular world" for a few days.

My Irish accent ... and don't ask if I am Canadian ... the two sound nothing alike, but you'd be surprised how often I have been asked that!!

Recent movies - The Guard - Brendan Gleeson is brilliantly funny in this film! Also Four Lions, one of the funniest "non-PC" movies I have ever seen.

Other classics - there are some good Mel Brooks movies that are silly but fun. The original Naked Gun was good, but then they made 2 more pointless sequels with the same jokes.
I like movies like No Country for Old Men & Burn After Reading.
A good thriller or horror movie is always good fun to watch with someone else, particularly fun if they are easily scared (coz I'm not).

Books - last few years has been mostly non-fiction. Of note The Dark Tourist, Freakonomics, The New New Thing, Being Digital. I did pick up Roddy Doyle's The Deportees a while back - he wrote The Commitments, The Snapper and The Van.

Food - I like most ethnicities cuisines or at least I am willing to try them if I haven't before. Whenever I travel I always try to look for local cuisines, local drinks, etc. Having said that, I don't know if I could handle crickets, worms or other insects that are popular in some cultures!

Music - vast and varied collection. Everything from U2 to Nine Inch Nails. Some artists from my collection - Snow Patrol, Keane, Kaiser Chiefs, Radiohead, Muse, The Ting Tings, Eric Clapton, Foo Fighters, The Cranberries, REM, The B52s, Paul Simon, The Streets, Prodigy, The Chemical Brothers, Daft Punk, My Chemical Romance, Manic Street Preachers, The Bloodhound Gang, Paul Oakenfold, Pink Floyd, Richard Cheese, Talking Heads, Bob Seger, Lynyrd Skynrd to name a small few.

Friends - life is no fun on your own.

iPhone - a phone, an ipod, email, a web browser and so much more, all in one.

Car - it's difficult to get around these parts without one.

Beer - as the great philosopher Homer once said "Mmmmm, beeeeeerr". (Homer Simpson)

Planes - a good means of transport to get away for a few days.

Food - nothing like having a good meal with great friends.
