My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Oh, hello. I didn't see you come in. I was too busy working on this model ship, here. See? It's inside a bottle...impressive, I know.

So, about're some facts:
My name's Matt
I am a human male
I invented the hippopotamus

I think that pretty much sums things up. But honestly, I'm a hyper-intellectualized, over-cultured artist, who subscribes to the basic tenets of, have fun figuring that one out.

NOTE: if you look to the right, and down a little bit, you'll see that I identify as "non-monogamous." I have a wonderful, amazing, fantastically awesome primary, and as such am not looking for someone to fill that role. So if that's your intention, sorry to say, I can't help ya out. If you're looking for folk in other capacities, though, then hi, let's hang out!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Bringing tomfoolery to the lives of those around me (some call it "being a bad influence"). Creating, devising, and hopefully making people think. I also whore out an area of my artistic inclinations for bread money.

...don't worry, I do freakishly well given that I'm an artist who doesn't take life so seriously. Yay for persistance!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Everything. Except modesty. Wait, no, I'm fucking awesome at that.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
An aura of awesomocity, probably...definitely!

Or something else.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

This could get scary long. That's what talking's for. Fine, I'll put a couple of things down for each. Stop yelling at me.

I like to read. Novel-wise I'm inclined toward the quirky: think Vonnegut, Bukowski, Thompson, Salinger. I also still enjoy old and off-beat comics...oh yeah, I'm a huge dork b-tha-dubs... but overall I tend read more history, philosophy, and periodicals than anything else.

Film and television are my profession, so I could gad about either forever. But, my all time favorite film is Fear and Loathing (love Gilliam). And I'm also a big fan of The Coens, Wilder, Capra, Renoir, Wright, Kurosawa, and Jang to name a few. I also have some favorite editors, but I won't get into that.

My all time favorite show is the Simpsons (though I haven't been a devout follower since about season 14), and Arrested Development, Animaniacs, The Critic, 30 Rock, and Curb are up there. Battlestar Galactica's always a favorite. In recent days I've really dug Modern Family, It's Always Sunny, Archer, and ADVENTURE TIME! (If you can't tell, I like comedy. But I watch just about everything.) I also love old (pre-1965) TV.

I listen to everything, and I'm always listening to music. Too much to mention, so as a taste the last ten songs to play on my iTunes were:
Tommy The Cat - Primus; Clap Your Hands - Black Eyed Peas; Broken Train - Beck; Boys Don't Cry - The Cure; Cigaro - System of a Down; Pilgrimage - Nine Inch Nails; Don't Know Why - Norah Jones; Time Is Gravity - Ghost Ghost; Master of Puppets - Metallica; Quest for Herb - Murphy's Law
My all time favorites tend to fall heavily in late-80s/early-90's alternative, classic rock, and old skool and "underground" hip-hop. I also have a special fondness for Johnny Cash, Cat Yusuf Stevens Islam, Bob Marley, Frank Sinatra, Joe Strummer and David Byrne; and The Diamond Sea is nineteen minutes and thirty-seven seconds of discordant, musical perfection (major props if you have even the slightest idea of the song I'm referring to). And, I'd probably marry Shirley Manson, Kim Gordon, or Vanessa Y.T. if any of them asked me to. Or Janelle Monáe...definitely Janelle Monáe. I gotta figure out how to make that happen 'cause apparently she only dates androids.

And food is the best! Except avocados (I know, I know). Traditional Korean and Jamaican are probably my favorites, though when I cook it tends to be of an Italian or Japanese fare.

See? And that was, like, the shortest I could make that.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I dunno, I'm not really much for "things." So I could go with the obvious (food, air, water), or the cheesy (passion, stimulation, puppies), or opt out. I opt out. Though actually, I do want to list puppies:

1. Puppies.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
motivations, sex, the autogyro, B.D. Wong -- not necessarily at the same time...but sometimes.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
all about having fun. You know, get a couple of cocktails in me, start a fire in someone's kitchen. Maybe go to Sea World, take my pants off...

Or, y'know, just taking in whatever shenanigans I've gotten myself into.

...sadly though, in all honesty, I'm probably working. At least my work is awesome!
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I don't really have what some would call "shame," so I don't have much in the way of private.

Maybe that I don't speak, at all. Shhhh, don't tell anyone.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
you like goofy, artsy, smartsy dudes.

you inspire/can teach me something new. That's kinda what I'm always looking for....hence the username.

you're curious, and open to new ways of thinking.

you're that perfect mix of crazy and brilliant.

you don't offend easily. (that's, like, really important)

you just need more awesome in your life.

Seriously, though, the ratio of women to men on this site is absurd...I feel like it's some sort of online Sadie Hawkins dance. Basically a crapshoot for us gentlemanly folk. I'm just sayin, chances are I won't message you first, even if I think you're awesome, since I'm not into the whole sending a whole bunch of people the same message game -- yet it seems that's how I'll be perceived. So if you think I'm cool, YOU should message ME. Right? Right! Yay feminism, and gender equality, and whatnot!!
