My self-summary
I'm a classically trained musician (oboe, piano), musicologist, university professor, and author. Friends describe me as kind, gracious, witty, charming, and well-read. The ancient Greeks recognized four kinds of love: Friendship, affection, eros, and unconditional love. I am, by definition, a "good catch" seeking my alter ego in all of these areas.
What I’m doing with my life
As Brazeal Dennard stated, "I am a musician who teaches [school]." I'm a certified online professor with superb ratings (4.86/5.00); I teach both face-to-face and online college students in music history and humanities. I have travelled extensively throughout Europe, the U.K., Africa, Australia, and the U.S. giving lectures at international conferences in musicology and online learning. When I'm not teaching I enjoy canoeing/kayaking, hiking, X-C skiing, classic films, jazz, opera, literature, theater, baseball, college football, travel, gardening and cooking (vegetarian). My favorite writers are Moliere, P.G. Wodehouse, and Shakespeare.
I’m really good at
Listening. Entertaining. Volunteerism and advocacy. I'm a fine musician and an excellent writer. I have authored 15 articles in the "New Grove Dictionary of Music & Musicians," and 21 articles in "Music in the Social & Behavioral Sciences." I'm also a very good cook and enjoy baking. My students rave about my brownies, chocolate chip cookies and oatmeal scotchies! I'm active in my church and I serve on several campus committees.
The first things people usually notice about me
are my luminous, almond-shaped hazel eyes and my complexion.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
What would life be without music, fine chocolate, excellent cheese, and exquisite wine? I'm a great fan of Oscar Wilde's writings, along with Shakespeare. Classic film is a favorite, as is 50s TV and jazz.
The six things I could never do without
The basic survival items (food, shelter, water, clothing), music, my dogs, and loyal friends. Sirius XM radio -- my guilty pleasure!! Oh, that's eight items; unless we're counting in 2/4 time. ;-) Anything beyond that is icing on the cake!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
how to be the best possible teacher; how to positively engage and influence my students; how best to be an excellent representative for my department and my university; most important, how to "strike the balance": As much as I love my career, it's not a replacement for human companionship, love, and passion. I love my career, but it won't bring me a cup of tea and share the NY Times with me on Sunday morning; nor will it share an exquisite sunset picnic at the park, scramble eggs, apply a Band-Aid if I cut my finger, or cheer me up when I'm feeling blue. These are things that partners do for one another. Oh, whatever happened to the REAL Prince Charming?
On a typical Friday night I am
Cooking dinner, walking the dogs, and either gathering with friends or having a quiet evening at home.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I believe in happy endings! You'll have to get to know me if you want to know the really intimate things I'm willing to share.
I’m looking for
  • Guys who like girls
  • Ages 47–62
  • Near me
  • Who are single
  • For new friends, long-term dating
You should message me if
you are an academic or professional person, appreciate the arts, have similar interests, and are interested in a long term relationship; you are a person of honor, integrity, and respect; you are trustworthy; you are well-mannered, truthful, kind, and socially adept. Where relationships are concerned, you understand the difference between a covenant and a contract. You're weary of gum-snapping, empty-headed gold-diggers and believe that you have something to offer this dynamic, gracious, caring woman who can transform your world. If you have adult children, you've set boundaries about your dating/relationships and are in control of the situation. Please message me if, besides articulating what YOU WANT, you can articulate WHAT YOU HAVE TO OFFER and will bring to a relationship. And, finally, I'd like to hear from you if you understand the quintessential Indian idea that nature echoes the passions and that the arts can translate emotion into delight.
