In my professional life, I teach college, and also work in the media industry.

•Listening (what I do for a living pretty much; that and rocking out to the thumps coming from my radio's subwoofer, and sometimes my washer/dryer combo when there's shoes bouncing around in there!)
•Creative problem-solving (like what to do when we get to the part of the popcorn where the stealth unpopped kernel is playa hatin')
•Communication (haven't you heard, all professors are really just frustrated comedians?!)
•Directions (there might be a magnet in behind the metal plate in my forehead! I kid ;)
•Craftily working my magic making Spotify playlists (who doesn't love a mix tape every now and then?!)
•Oh and, make-out sessions (kissing=yes please!)

I'm used to being on the firing line (public speaking is part of my job), so, usually it's an icebreaker, or some form of self-deprecating humor :) why everybody so serious?!

Books-funky mix of reader of eastern philosophical books and meditation, mixed with a love for techie manuals, articles, and the like; admittedly, pretty much a reddit junky/whore on the side.

TV: The Walking Dead, How I Met Your Mother, Dexter, It's Always Sunny, Those crazy travel/food shows, Nova, Shark Week, Discovery Channel, TCM, Fx, Sundance Channel, IFC, The Ali G. Show, Portlandia, Family Guy, Weeds, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, Nova, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Louie, and every now and then, I go on a reality tv jag...

Movies-pretty much anything funny, cerebral, romantic, sarcastic, I'm down for. Surprisingly, some of the classic rom-coms from the 50's are fantastic. So that and, to be true to my old skool roots, gotta mention the John Hughes, anything with John Cusack, most cheesy 80s films, an occasional blacksploitation film thrown in; Wes Anderson flicks, The whole Christopher Guest series of films (from Spinal Tap on), Tim Burton can do no wrong, and I'm pretty much down for any of the Apatow stuff.

Music: I'm a product of the 80s, so, anything tied to that era, and about 15 years + or -, I'm all about it; some EDM/IDM Industrial Techno, deep house (not too much vocals lady!), hip-hop/rap, jazz, blues, world beat, German techno, dnb head, southern rock, 70s yacht rock, almost anything from the UK from 1978 on...The Smiths/Moz, Cure, Joy Div/New Order, Depeche, you get the idea!
