My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"When people come to speak to me, whatever they say, I am struck by a kind of incandescence in them, the 'I' whose predicate can be 'love' or 'fear' or 'want,' and whose object can be 'someone' or 'nothing' and it won't really matter, because the loveliness is just in that presence, shaped around 'I' like a flame on a wick, emanating itself in grief and guilt and joy and whatever else."

I am a well-rounded soul that grew up in the country and moved to the city in search of diversity. I like all sorts of things from all sorts of places, and can find my groove in almost any situation. It is one of my goals in life to ensure that the important people in my life know how much they are loved.

I read more nonfiction than fiction, but I am not opposed to a good story. I have just found that oftentimes the best stories are the true ones. I also play music and sing on the regular, and like pushing myself to test my existing skills and learn new ones. I have completely changed my life from the way I grew up, and most of that change has occurred of my own volition.

I'm looking for a friend/lover with some combination of the following qualities that I can "round up to the one" (bonus if you get that reference):

You are a make-something-out-of-nothing sort of person...the kind of person who can see value in everything. You are equally comfortable with deep philosophical conversations and witty banter...even better if you vacillate easily between the two. You can work with your hands. You know how to fix things. You can teach me things. You want me to teach you things. You are GGG and sex-positive. Maybe you don't know exactly what you want, but you are willing to have the conversations to figure it out. You are interested in getting to know people, and have the skills to engage them. You are out and about. You are ready to launch. You like to cuddle and watch a documentary. You understand the importance of connection. Maybe you are judgmental but you always give a person the benefit of your own ignorance (we are human, after all). You are honest. You are genuine. You are fun. You make me laugh. You are ALIVE.

I don't really care how tall you are, what kind of car you drive, how much money you make, or who you know. I might be impressed, but none of that is going to phoenix us through the inevitable fires that flare up in human interaction.

Also, thanks to OKC, I have recently discovered the term "sapiosexual." In addition to being an awesome word, it is also an accurate description of me.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working toward a balance between things that require both hemispheres of my brain.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Entertaining a room full of kids with blithe science puns and bio-philosophy. Spiel des Jahres winners. Cooking! Building up my sewing skills, learning how to design and make clothes. Figuring things out.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I tend to ask people really intense questions upon first meeting them

"What did you do this summer?"
"I traveled to work in Guatemala for a while."
"Did you learn anything about yourself in the construct of interacting with other people whose lives were drastically different than yours?"

I'm fine with the small talk, but it is the big talk where people's history lives.

TV: I think Six Feet Under is the best show in the history of television. That being said. I also enjoy Game of Thrones, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords, True Blood, The Daily Show...I don't watch much TV

In a recent article in Scientific American entitled "How to Find Love in a Digital World," science says that [so far] we are unable to discern how compatible we might be with people based solely on online interactions, regardless of the thoroughness of the profile or the attractiveness of the photos. Hence, you should message me if you are game for meeting up.

One time whilst traveling in Spain, a friend and I took a bus to Valencia for Fallas. When we got off the bus on the outskirts of town, we realized that entirety of the city center was shut down and roads were blocked off because of the we jumped in the parade and danced our way to the hostel in the most flamboyance and charisma that two travelers could muster. We twirled little girls in their Fallas dresses, sang with the musicians, clapped and stomped with the flamenco dancers, and then jumped out of the parade when we saw our hostel. If you would have leapt into that parade with me, say hello.
