My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
"When people come to speak to me, whatever they say, I am struck by a kind of incandescence in them, the 'I' whose predicate can be 'love' or 'fear' or 'want,' and whose object can be 'someone' or 'nothing' and it won't really matter, because the loveliness is just in that presence, shaped around 'I' like a flame on a wick, emanating itself in grief and guilt and joy and whatever else."

I am a well-rounded soul that grew up in the country and moved to the city in search of diversity. I like all sorts of things from all sorts of places, and can find my groove in almost any situation. It is one of my goals in life to ensure that the important people in my life know how much they are loved.

I read more nonfiction than fiction, but I am not opposed to a good story. I have just found that oftentimes the best stories are the true ones. I also play music and sing on the regular, and like pushing myself to test my existing skills and learn new ones. I have completely changed my life from the way I grew up, and most of that change has occurred of my own volition.

I'm looking for a make-something-out-of-nothing sort of person...the kind of person who can see value in everything.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Working toward a balance between things that require both hemispheres of my brain.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Entertaining a room full of kids with blithe science puns and bio-philosophy. German board games. Cooking! Building up my sewing skills, learning how to design and make clothes.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I tend to ask people really intense questions upon first meeting them

"What did you do this summer?"
"I traveled to work in Guatemala for a while."
"Did you learn anything about yourself in the construct of interacting with other people whose lives were drastically different than yours?"
"......"

I'm fine with the small talk, but it is the big talk where people's history lives.

I like foreign films and scary movies, and especially foreign scary movies.

TV: Flight of the Conchords, True Blood, The Daily Show, Dexter (I don't watch much TV)

Music: Stan Getz, Outkast, The Roots, Erykah Badu, Swell Season, Bjork, Talking Heads, Big Smith, The Coup, Balkan Beat Box, Ded Prez, Tom Waits, Citizen Cope, Ray Lamontagne, Mos Def, Ani DiFranco, Interpol, Horse Feathers, Noah and the Whale, CCR, Led Zeppelin, Nick Drake, Old Crow Medicine Show, Runaway Planet, Great Lake Swimmers, Beirut, Gogol Bordello, Goran Bregovic, The Tallest Man on Earth, Possessed by Paul James, Frightened Rabbit, The Head and the Heart, Gotye, Postal Service, etc..

Most shows on KOOP 91.7, and anything that involves multiple instruments, one blues riff, and moonshine. Musically I am all over the map, and I have a strong penchant for traditional music from all places, but especially Romani music...it's a long story.

Food: I love all things food, including growing, cooking, and eating it. I like it best when I can do all three for one meal. Pastured local meats are the jam.

I like the way mud feels between my toes. :)

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
In a recent article in Scientific American entitled "How to Find Love in a Digital World," science says that [so far] we are unable to discern how compatible we might be with people based solely on online interactions, regardless of the thoroughness of the profile or the attractiveness of the photos. Hence, you should message me if you are game for meeting up.

Finishing grad school has its perks, but mostly I now have all this time to fill with new adventures, and am looking for someone who is also down for said adventures.
