Lincoln, Nebraska
So--here is some completely irrelevant information about me
1. I grew up in Manassas, Virginia.
2. The house I grew up in is actually a log cabin. Really.
3. Although I am not a direct descendant, my family tree includes Mary Surratt. If the name doesn't ring a bell--she was the first woman executed by the US government for her role in aiding and abetting John Wilkes Booth after he assassinated Abraham Lincoln.
4. I once dated a guy who claimed to have dated Ludwig Wittgenstein's grand-daughter. I find that a little bit suspect though, as Herr Professor was quite openly gay, and I don't recall ever hearing that he married or had children.
5. I am only 3 degrees of separation from Kevin Bacon. (1) I met Micky Dolenz (of the Monkees) at a book signing several years ago. (2) Micky was in the movie Head which was co-written by Jack Nicholson. (3) Jack was in the movie A Few Good Men along with Kevin.
6. I was once detained and interrogated (but not arrested) by the Italian Port Authority in Brindisi. And no, I don't know why, as I speak very little Italian.
7. I am a published sociologist.
8. I once worked as the Director of Child and Family Services (CPS) for one of the local Native American Tribes here in Nebraska.
9. I used to drive a Mini Cooper until the transmission died on me.
10. Once upon a time I taught seminary for the LDS church.
Just a little trivia to make your day go by faster!
Well, I guess posting here isn't really any different from blogging. Been a tough week so far, so I'm hoping each new day just keeps getting better.
Sometimes, it seems like there is just so much going on in life that I don't have time to just slow down and enjoy the moment I'm in. I need more of those kinds of moments, I think everyone does. I also think everyday you should do something you wouldn't normally do-something out side of your normal routine. Hey, if it doesn't float your boat, you don't have to do it again. But it keeps you from being bored.
