I am sugar, spice, and usually, pretty nice.

My Self-Summary

I am all about making my life as peaceful and harmonious as possible -I can live without the drama. I sing in my car. I have a Shih-Tzu named Ruby, whom I adore. I am a huge dork. I have an unnatural knack for getting hurt in the most hilarious ways (Thank goodness I can laugh at myself!) I love sunflowers. I know that the bird is the word. I am lucky enough to know who my true friends are. I believe that love is a gift, happiness is a choice, and peace is a state-of-mind. I abhor laziness. Books are fantastic -I spend hours at the library (I love the smell). I am a lot like a magpie. I enjoy sarcasm. I like to paint -acrylics are my media of choice- and I sketch clothing designs. And, I find true contentment and joy in the little things.

This is a quote by which I try to live my life:
"Promise yourself to be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind. Look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true. Think only of the best, work only for the best, and expect only the best. Forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future. Give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others. Live in the faith that the whole world is on your side so long as you are true to the best that is in you."
-Christian D. Larson

What I’m doing with my life

Right now, I am really trying to live to the fullest. I am actually having a blast! I am meeting new people and trying new things.

I just moved into my new apartment. I went from living completely on my own to having a roommate. It's definitely an adjustment.

I finally chose a career for my "someday" plans. I'm both excited and relieved about that.

I’m really good at

I hear I am a good cook. Also, I'm pretty handy with home-improvement things. I have a grasp on the Jedi-sciences. I can accessorize an outfit like no other. I like to think that I know a little about grammar and punctuation, but there is always more to learn. I'm also pretty fantastic at making a fool of myself.

The first things people usually notice about me

A lot of people notice that I am a taller girl who likes to wear heels. Big heels, in fact. My friends joke that I have mugged drag queens for some of favorite pairs...

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Books: Animal Farm, Anne of Green Gables, Bridget Jones' Diary and Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Fahrenheit 451, Jane Eyre, The Little House books, Pride And Prejudice, To Kill a Mockingbird, and Wicked

In addition to the books above, I enjoy pretty much anything written by Stephen King or Gregory Maguire. I like the classic fairy tales. I also like how-to and random information books. I love dictionaries. Right now, I'm working my way through Jane Austen.

Movies: A Lot Like Love, Across the Universe, Back to the Future Trilogy, Beauty and the Beast, The Bridget Jones movies, Dirty Dancing, Grandma's Boy, The Land Before Time, Once, The Phantom of the Opera, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Pride And Prejudice, The Princess Bride, Pulp Fiction, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Running With Scissors, Star Wars series, and When Harry Met Sally...,

I truly am easy-to-please when it comes to movies. I enjoy most genres, only sometimes including the scary stuff. Horror/zombie/ghost/psychologically thrilling/hiding-in-your-shower-to-kill-you-when-you-get-home movies do their jobs and FREAK ME OUT.

Music: The All-American Rejects, Augustana, Beethoven, Aqua, Backstreet Boys (completely embarrassing, but true), The Black Keys, The Bloodhound Gang, Blue October, The Bravery, Depeche Mode, Duran Duran, Eurythmics, Fiona Apple, Flogging Molly, Frank Sinatra, Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová, INXS, Jethro Tull (Aqulaung), The Killers, Michael Bublé, Mika, Mozart, Neverending White Lights, Our Lady Peace, Pink, Prince, Regina Spektor, Richard Cheese, Sia, Switchfoot, System of a Down, Queen, Weezer, and Rob Zombie

I'll be the first to admit that I like some pretty awful music.

Food: I'm a big fan of Indian and Mexican foods. Chinese is always good too. I have never met a fruit or vegetable I haven't liked -I am on a big orange kick. Sushi is delicious. I like trying new things. I don't want anyone to ever be able to say I am too afraid to try something.

Television: Glee, True Blood, How I Met Your Mother, The Golden Girls, and Family Guy. I'm still a huge fan of Six Feet Under and Sex and the City.

The six things I could never do without

1.) laughing -either with people or at myself
2.) something to read
3.) fresh fruit and vegetables
4.) a great set of sheets
5.) moisturizer
6.) color -Part of being a magpie, I guess. It makes me happy.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

I spend a good portion of my time thinking about the various tasks I have to complete. I keep lists in my head -grocery lists, bills to pay, things to do, etc. I'm definitely a planner.

On a typical Friday night I am

I, generally, am either working or out with friends. If working, I usually get home late and pass out. If out with my friends, I get home later and probably still pass out.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

That I have a truly paranoid fear of, while shopping, having someone run into the back of my heels with a shopping cart. It really freaks me out.

You should message me if

You should message me if you enjoy laughing until you cry. Or if you are comfortable in your skin. Or if you have a random piece of information to share with me (I love learning new things). Or if you have read a book lately -by choice. Or if you are a grown-up. Or if you think we could have a interesting conversation. Or if you can cook. I'm a sucker for someone who can cook. Or if you are a decent, generally good person. Or if you are musically inclined. Or if something in my profile struck a chord with you.
