My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Intelligent, professional, educated, emotionally open, spiritual, very adventurous, musical, great communicator, compassionate, happy and with a very wide set of interests, know what the meaning of life is (no secret really). I keep very fit, in body and mind and soul, try to live in each moment, my kids have grown up (whew), I have fertile sense of humor, and am a fantastic Morris Dancer. Ok, I have never Morris Danced, and don't have a spare hanky, so will not be taking it up it would appear. I am a traveler in life, always seeking new things, not more material stuff, (that is tedious and unsatisfying), but adventures of the mind and body. Interested in tantra and kink, vegetarianism, climate change, epistemology, technology, forests, history, pleasure, compassion and personal and ethical responsibility. And guitars, Logic Pro, and creating ... You need to ask me about the rest!
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
I am engaged in my professional life (Work at a University), seeking to understand the universe we live in, have a full non-work life mostly full of music and creativity, and ultimately what I do is be happy. Seek simplicity, forests, good people, quietness, dancing, thinking, feeling, simple really.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Communication: I can have conversations around, ah, lets see, democracy, the meaning of love, ecological systems, building a sustainable house, movies, F1 motor racing, fly fishing, mental illness, religion, god and religion, religion and god and spirituality, scepticism, how to be happy, sex, sex and its role in human affairs, the human soul, non-human souls, the space prob Voyager, songwriting, guitar playing, poetry, compassion and empathy in human life, poverty, rugby union, though don't talk much about AFL (sorry). Anyway, this list is ridiculously long so I shall stop. My knowledge varies about all these, but I am actually interested in quite a lot of things really. And some of these things I am actually quite good at, but you will have to ask me which ones!
I am good at making music. I am good at driving my car. And riding my bicycle. I can (usually) fix stuff, solve problems (but not math problems), put up a tent, negotiate virtual space, listen empathetically, oh, the list just goes on and on and on ...
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
That strange lump on my neck.

No just kidding, there is nothing wrong with my neck.
They will say they notice my compassion, intelligence (which really just means I think about a lot of things, not that I have the answers). I am engaged with people, I am physically fit, healthy and strong, and I have nice hands. And eyes. Apparently.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food

Ok, not sure how relevant this is. Frankly, when I connect with someone, and I mean romantically, I don't need the same playlist on our iPhones (Oh, I could never go out with a non-Apple person. Never. Nah. Unless I really liked them!).

Favourite book: I am a strange loop, by Douglas Hofstadter. Read very widely though, to learn and for fun. Currently reading 'The Philosopher and the Wolf', or what the wolf taught the philosopher about being human. Great book, challenging insights and a great read about a real wolf and a real philosopher. It probably has convinced me to return more fully to vegetarianism. The late Christopher Hitchens writes interesting stuff.

Enjoy folk music, acoustic singer songwriters, dub-reggae (like shapeshifter), electronic music, listen to lots of world music, Indian and African music, really like an Australian blues band called Chase the Sun (truly inspirational guitarist). Not a great fan of 80s music, even though I was there! Don't really do nostalgia. Prefer making my own music as well, experimenting.

Mainly vegetarian these days, temper my eating with ethical considerations and good health aspirations.
Movies, hey, just saw Django Unchained (Tarantino's latest gift to cinematic blood and style), and surprisingly, the discourse of slavery. Loved it. Now need to think about it.
But love a wide range of movies,
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
My brain
My lungs
Consciousness
My guitars
Salt (Well, its true for all of us...)
My McLaren
My fertile imagination
The forests and mountains of Aotearoa
Opps, more than six... sorry!
And good people in my life
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.

On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
a) Passed out in a drunken stupor
b) Riding shotgun on the local stage coach
c) Playing music somewhere, like NY city or Geelong.
d) I have dematerialised to stop growing old.
Only one of these is true and even that one is a little fanciful; I have never been to Geelong.

Offer a few tips to help matches win you over.
You like what you read, and my photo appeals, and you are OK with me being honest and direct if I respond, and that you are OK with the idea that websites such as this are simply filtering devices to shorten the odds of meeting someone with whom the pheromones flow, cupid hovers and it feels good.

Message me if you are fit and seek to stay in shape, are emotionally open and self aware, have a fertile mind, cultivate generosity and compassion, like the inner city but also love the forests and enjoy camping/adventure. And love being around music.

You cannot be a Collingwood fan.

You think I'm kidding?

Actually, I am. I don't care one way or the other...

Sometimes I am asked if I am looking for a 'relationship', as if it is the holy grail of life. It is not and cannot be. I don't think of being on this site in those terms. I seek to live authentically in each moment. I am a not a follower of social convention on these things.

Please know that I do not want to enter into long virtual communications (I have neither the time nor inclination). If your profile appeals, then I much prefer to have a phone chat and if that goes OK, to meet for a coffee. For me this is the only way I can see whether I connect and are potentially attracted to someone. I seek to be kind and gracious and honest and am not here looking for quick sex. Of course I want sex, but that is not my motivation for being here. So I will say if it doesn't feel right to take it further, I am here in a serious way and willing to be patient. Thanks for reading this! :-)
