My Self-Summary

I'm a private, even shy and reclusive, person. My reclusive tendencies have been greatly exaggerated due to chronic health problems which, thankfully, are mostly behind me now. And yet, I've always been sociable and interested in the stories of everyone I meet.

I love music (including roots/folk/world and weird trad/modern fusions), forests, storytelling, and computer programming. My interest in ecology has expanded to include urban ecology/planning -- a surprising turnaround for someone who used to be irrationally prejudiced against cities.

Whistling? I'm a decent software developer, sensitive to the aesthetics of code and the needs of users. I'm a compulsive researcher who can rapidly find and assimilate information; the boundary between my mind and Google is disturbingly nebulous. I used to be really good at flights of fancy; that aptitude has withered from the years of brain fog and the development of my rational side, but I'm reasonably confident I'll recover it. I'm a good listener, apparently; I'm an introvert who mostly keeps to himself, yet people open up to me.

I wish I knew. People have remarked on my peculiarly formal style of speech (even though I can be casual to a fault) and my knowledge of obscure facts (even though I'm terrible at Trivial Pursuit).

FOOD: Dark meat/fish (more due to necessity than personal preference; fortunately, it's easy to prefer what keeps me healthy)
