My self-summary
I try to keep myself filled with wonder and curiosity about the world around me. I laugh at really goofy and childish stuff. I laugh at clever, but immature puns. A lot. I strive to always be in a state of constant learning. I like scaring my little brother.
What I’m doing with my life
Juggling full-time work as a QA analyst in the video game industry with school (majoring in poli sci).

Teaching myself programming on the side with aspirations of eventually getting into Android app development. I have a few neat ideas for apps. Ask me about it!
I’m really good at
I have a good memory. I'm good with faces, and voices.
The first things people usually notice about me
Perhaps confusion over my ethnicity. Most people assume I'm either Filipino or Hispanic, which I suppose aren't terrible guesses (Half Lao, quarter Mexican, quarter white is the correct answer).
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I'm never not reading a book. A few of my favorites are Perks of Being a Wallflower, Team of Rivals, The Giver, Griftopia, and Harry Potter. I read mostly political or science books, but I enjoy the occasional biography. Anything by Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Neil deGrasse Tyson, or Richard Dawkins. The Night Angel trilogy by Brent Weeks is some of the best fantasy I've read. Currently working my way through the A Song of Ice and Fire series.

My favorite TV shows are Community, Louie, Doctor Who, The Daily Show, Colbert Report, Dexter, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, The Office, The Wire, Flight of the Conchords, Arrested Development, Firefly, How I Met Your Mother, Family Guy, Scrubs, Fresh Prince of Bel-air, and Married with Children.

My favorite movie is Forrest Gump. But I also love The Fountain, 50 First Dates, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I Love You Man, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, The Big Lebowski and Blazing Saddles are my favorite comedies. Some other notable favorites are The Departed and 500 Days of Summer. I just watched Being John Malkovich for the first time and absolutely loved it.

Music:
Anything from The Beatles to 2pac, from Willie Nelson to Macklemore, and almost everything in between. My favorite bands right now are probably Imagine Dragons, Of Monsters and Men, and The Black Keys. My favorite solo artists are Regina Spektor and Florence + The Machine.

I love Thai, Mexican, Italian, and sushi. Love spicy food and I would probably put lemon/lime on everything I eat if I could.
The six things I could never do without
- Learning
- My dog
- Friends
- Laughter
- Reading
- Empathy
I spend a lot of time thinking about
The unfathomable vastness of the universe. A couple years back I attended an event hosted by The Planetary Society, hosted by Bill Nye, on the night the Curiosity Rover landed on Mars. It was one of the most memorable nights of my life. Mr. Nye did a great job of getting everyone excited about what was being attempted by NASA and JPL. As it was being announced in real-time that Curiosity was making its descent into the Martian atmosphere, the excitement in the room was palpable. When we got confirmation that Curiosity successfully landed, an incredible wave of cheers swept all of us. You could see genuine joy and excitement on every face there, especially on Bill Nye. That night, it blew my mind to think that somewhere out there in the dark of space, a human creation landed on another planet. Shaking Bill's hand that night is something I will probably keep with me for the rest of my life.
On a typical Friday night I am
Probably at home relaxing with my dog. Playing board games or video games with friends. Getting experimental in the kitchen with some recipe I found online. Watching documentaries on Netflix. Watching or reading online lectures about programming and trying out various programming exercises. All of the above are likely candidates.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I weeped like a baby during Episode 12 of Season 4 of Louie. If you did too, let's be friends.
