My self-summary
I'm a professional performer, extremely driven, extremely capable, always on a quest to figure out myself, my city and the elusiveness of the ultimate cup of coffee. I love performing, writing, laughing and talking to people. Whatever sadnesses, frustrations and just plan lunacy may occur here, New York is my soulmate city, and I'm here to stay.
What I’m doing with my life
I'm an entertainer. At my best, I entertain myself as well as others. I'm also a good writer, perhaps one day a professional one. I teach drama in various spots in the city, which is a useful means of never forgetting what it was like to be a kid. My aim is to spend my life directing, writing, acting and creating.
I’m really good at
mining absurdity from pretty much anything.
engaging other humans in conversation and performance.
supplanting frustration with humor.
The first things people usually notice about me
I'm usually smiling. As you can imagine this is usually taken one or another unfortunate way on the street. But the real reason, 98% of the time, is that I'm remembering something funny somebody said on Whose Line is it Anyway? fifteen years ago. Or a Dilbert cartoon. Never apologize, never explain.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I love movies that make me laugh, or just appreciate some new nuance of the world, or both. One of my very favorites is a Belgian movie called L'Iceberg which is almost wordless. My most recent favorite is Moonrise Kingdom, the only movie I've ever watched in a theatre 3 times.

As for music, I'm a classical listener with most of my favorite composers coming from the late 19th/early 20th centuries. And food-wise, pad thai will always win the day.
The six things I could never do without
absurdity
incongruity
caffeine
wisdom from without and within
inspiration
fluffy pillows
I spend a lot of time thinking about
- ...why people fit together, or don't.
- ...why analysis is often a waste of time, but I suffer from a strong predilection for it anyway.
- ... incongruities, because they are funny and I like them.
- ...how well, or badly, the same concept can be communicated in different languages.
- ... the fact that most emotions can be most eloquently channeled through puppets. Classical music is a close second.
- ...what's next.
On a typical Friday night I am
about to experience a Saturday morning.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
one of my best moments ever was listening to music on a rock in Central Park at Columbus Circle, looking out at the Time Warner Center.
