My self-summary
So yeah. Summary!
I am a skeptic and science geek. I'm a roleplaying enthusiast. I'm into technology and scifi. I try to keep up with world events. I care about looking after the environment. I want to help the people I'm close to whenever they need help. I have a dry and odd sense of humor. I love creating stories and digital art. I'm an atheist, and I don't have any reverence for anyone's beliefs. All ideas are free game for criticism.

Allow me to get serious for a moment.

I feel like I've wasted a good chunk of my life doing unimportant things. I've spent countless hours doing nothing much in front of a computer. I've spent far too much time dating people I knew deep down weren't the right person for me, but wouldn't admit it to myself. I spent so much time not listening to my inner voice to later regret it.

I feel like in the past two years I've in a way woken up. I've started to develop a much clearer picture of who I am and what I want in life. It's still a work in progress. If you were to ask me what it means to be a man, I really couldn't tell you. But at least I'd know what it is that you're asking.

I'm done with trying to be someone I'm not. And I'm definitely done with hurting people while doing so.

Ultimately I'm looking for someone to form a lasting relationship with. I'm not interested in flings or dead-end relationships.

I'm not expecting to find the right person here, but this seems like as good a way to meet new people as any. I'm not exactly sure if I'm truly ready for something yet, but I don't want to exclude possibilities outright.

As a final note, I'm nowhere this serious most of the time, I was just in a mood when I originally wrote this :P
What I’m doing with my life
At the moment I'm focusing on work, finishing my master's, and working on my overall physical shape. What time is left over I spend with friends and family, maybe reserving some more time for drawing. Going back to historical fencing this fall as well.

In the long-term I plan to work in software engineering for a few more years, then move to something else, possibly robotics or the aeronautics industry.
I’m really good at
I wouldn't say "really good at", but I make an effort to be as honest and up-front about things as I can. I'm also pretty good at logic games.
The first things people usually notice about me
I can't really answer this, but I like to think it's my willingness to help others and general good nature.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Note: This is list isn't even close to being comprehensive, I'll add stuff as it comes to mind.

Favorite books: Terry Pratchett's Discworld series, Bernard Cornwell (especially the Warlord Chronicles), C.J. Samson's Shardlake books, most of Stephen King (Duma Key in particular), George R.R. Martin's slaughterfest, et cetera et cetera.

Movies: The 13th Warrior, Yojimbo (anything by Kurozawa really), Porco Rosso (or by Miyazaki), District 9, Inglourious Basterds (or Tarantino, this is getting embarrassing), Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, Apocalypse Now, American History X, Dragonheart, Silence of the Lambs, The Shining (though the book's better), V for Vendetta, Full Metal Jacket, Crash, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Bram Stoker's Dracula (the 1992 film), Love Actually, Notting Hill.

Shows: Community, Breaking Bad, Game of Thrones, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Star Trek: TNG and DS9, Babylon 5, Firefly, Buffy and Angel, Doctor Who, Sherlock, The Colony, QI, Monty Python's Flying Circus.

Music: Studio Killers, Daft Punk, Deadmau5, The Black Keys, Eppu Normaali, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Procol Harum, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Tim Minchin, The Blues Brothers, The Heavy, Cage the Elephant, Blue Öyster Cult, any classic rock

Food: Sushi, Schezuan chinese cousine, Mexican, Italian. Not really picky, will eat anything apart from Surströmming, Balut, Hákarl and Lutefisk.

Board games: Fluxx, Battlestar Galactica, Call of Cthulhu, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Power Grid, Arkham Horror

Video games: Ugh, too many to name. I spend too much of my free time with these, am trying to cut back. Strategy games and RPG's are usually more to my liking than casual FPS's. Mostly I play on the computer, when I'm on the PS3 I usually play the Dark Souls series. To name some games Europa Universalis 3&4, Crusader Kings 2, the Fallout series, TES, Minecraft, XCom, the Baldur's Gate series, Master of Orion, Sword of the Stars, Spacechem.

in case you didn't figure it out, I much prefer staying at home doing geeky things to partying or clubbing. Going out with friends usually means playing board games at the pub.
The six things I could never do without
Friends
Family
Books
Writing/Drawing equipment
Tabletop RPGs
Computers, internet is optional.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
What I want in life, how to prioritize what to spend my free time on, how to build some sort of a relationship with my father.
On a typical Friday night I am
At home, reading a book with a cup of tea on hand. Or building spaceships in Kerbal Space Program. Or drawing. Or out playing Pathfinder or a boardgame with my friends.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I cry every time I hear Tim Minchin's White Wine In The Sun.
