My self-summary
Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
Basically I'm a total geek. Which means, yes I make all sorts of nerdy references, and am a passionate fan of any number of tv series. But I think it also means I won't hesitate to squee a little bit when I see something I think is cool, or bust out laughing because I got reminded of a joke. When I like something I show it, and if I don't I show that too. Even if my squaritude's a little too pronounced.

I love science (especially physics), economics, philosophy, politics, movies, and science fiction, and I love to talk about them all, and other things besides.
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Graduated from Georgia Tech in 2012, moved out to LA that Fall to go to USC for my Ph.D, and have been here ever since. Then go into a career in physics.

Other than that, I'm learning about the LA area and exploring. Someone who could help show me around would be very welcome!
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
-Funny allusions and examples. That's mostly where my humor comes from, actually.
-Academic subjects
-Not cooking, but I try (sort of)
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Not sure. My glasses or my eyes (when I don't have my glasses on) . Personality-wise, I'm funny, or maybe nerdiness.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Help your potential matches find common interests.
Anything by Stephen Baxter, Carl Sagan, H.G. Wells, or Ayn Rand. Nineteen Eighty-Four, The Moral Landscape,...
Actually, this is kind of a big question. I have so many books! I moved a couple hundred pounds out with me, and the other 350 pounds of books I own are getting shipped to me by my parents. It's crazy.

Another big question. Serenity, Harry Potter, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Kick-Ass, Back to the Future (all), Ghostbusters (all) Star Trek (all), Superbad, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, anything Pixar (I love those movies!!!), and boatloads of others (I think I have like a hundred movies on DVD, or more).

Shows- Archer, Firefly, Buffy, Arrested Development, Stargate (any), Big Bang Theory, How I Met Your Mother, and more (bunch of seasons of TV too).

Music- Anything but rap, pretty much. I am partial to country and pop. I recently found Bo Burnham, and he is so awesome, and is as close to rap as I get. I like late 90s early 00s pop (there was so much awesome stuff!!!). I LOVE nerd rock stuff like Kirby Krackle, Hank Green, and Chameleon Circuit. Nerd music is pretty much my major genre at this point, haha. And many unnamed songs/artists (not like "The Artist Formerly Known As" unnamed, just I-didn't-say-them unnamed).

I also have a thing for video games, but I wouldn't call myself a gamer per se.
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
1. Air (both a good nitrogen/oxygen mix and air conditioning)
2. Food/water.
3. Books.
4. Science! (need to say it like Dexter, not Showtime Dexter, Dexter's Lab Dexter).
5. The internet (though I should probably cut back on it a little).
6. Humor - it's so great!
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
economics, philosophy in general, science, current events, movies, tv shows, and the good ole standby- the daydream. Lately, I've been giving a lot of thought into the future---3D printing, nanotechnology, genetic engineering, AI, etc. I'm a transhumanist, bonus points for you if you know what that is without referencing Google/Wikipedia! Super bonus points if you're one too.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Reading or watching a movie, hanging out with friends, exploring LA. a bit.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
I really and truly think technology will advance fast enough that I have a good shot at not dying.

... you are a nerd/geek, like intellectual conversations, like watching movies (and making fun of the bad ones), or just if you think I'm interesting.

I really want someone who is passionate about something, and who, also, isn't afraid to show that. If you're passionate about things I'm passionate about, even better. :-)
