I am saucy, inquisitive, and open.

My Self-Summary

There's too much going on in the universe to think you know it all and you're always right. I'm a fairly knowledgeable person, but I'm always looking to learn more. I tend to be careful of making judgments, because there's always another side. As long as whatever floats your boat doesn't sink mine, we'll be OK.

So there's my life philosophy. On to the minute details.

I like books -- not just reading them, but *owning* them. I've been known to wear out copies of favorites and then ignore new replacement editions because the originals are old friends.

I think the Internet and social networking are fascinating and powerful tools. I feel the same way about the human brain.

I've got a pretty dry sense of humor, and if you don't get sarcasm, you probably won't like me very much. Puns have also been known to send me into bouts of uncontrollable laughter.

What I’m doing with my life

I work as a computer programmer/web designer. My roommate is one of my best friends, and we hang out with a pretty tight knit group of people doing the things that any given group of people do, plus bowling.

As for where I'm headed, that's all pretty open at this point.

I’m really good at

Computers. Trivia. Scaring the cats. Making my friends look at me like I'm crazy.

In the interest of balance, I'm bad at keeping up with my laundry, cooking, and parking in small spaces.

My favorite books, movies, music, and food

Anything by Neil Gaiman or Jane Austen. Catch 22 and The Once and Future King. The Princess Bride and Ender's Game. Pop-neuroscience like The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and Phantoms in the Brain.

Stardust. A couple of Jane Austen movies. Anything Joss Whedon has touched. Pushing Daisies and Battlestar Galactica. The first season of Veronica Mars. I finally gave up on Heroes. Mythbusters and Man vs. Wild. I LOVE How I Met Your Mother.

I'm not as passionate about music as some people are, but things that come up a lot and/or are rarely skipped include:
The Dixie Chicks, The Weakerthans, Carole King, Dispatch, Avenue Q, Dr. Horrible, Once More With Feeling (did I mention I like Joss Whedon?), and Sugarland. I also once took it upon myself to download the entire Schoolhouse Rock repertoire (I also have the DVD).

I'm a picky eater. A good cheeseburger or some fettuccine alfredo leaves me pretty happy (and very full!).

The six things I could never do without

In no particular order:

A hair thing for my ponytail. An intellectual challenge. My mom. My watch. Internet access. My roommate.

I spend a lot of time thinking about

What I'm doing with my life. I really need a change in my job situation, but that's scary and hard to do in the current economic climate.

On a typical Friday night I am

With my friends. That's really the only constant -- there might be booze, there might be TV, there might be board/card games. We might even go see a play or concert or something.

The most private thing I’m willing to admit here

I'm a pretty open person, so the things I'd consider "private" are the things I don't really want to tell anyone at all. That's a cop out, but so be it.

You should message me if

You've got something to say. Show me you actually read all that crap up there. And you're willing to use proper grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.
