My self-summary
Grew up in North Hollywood, lived in New Orleans, Boston and Chicago, now back in California. I love cooking, but find myself going out to restaurants a lot. I try to spend as much time as I can outside on the weekends playing soccer, hiking, riding my bike, or out with my dog. I'm pretty sarcastic, but am not above a good dad joke. My name has neither Nathan nor Jackso in it. Not really sure why I chose that as my profile name...Also currently bearded, just put up a picture.
What I’m doing with my life
Corporate finance stuff by day, making pickles, sauerkraut, and kimchi by night. Not every night, mind you. That's too much pickled stuff. Just cured some pork belly to make bacon. Jury is still out on that one. Edit: it was delicious.
I’m really good at
Cooking
Making impulse purchases...see: motorcycle, banjo, multiple books on fermentation.
The first things people usually notice about me
Nowadays the beard. My eyes are up here, ladies. In my previous, non-bearded life my resemblance to Matthew Broderick. Ferris Bueller Matthew Broderick, not recent Matthew Broderick.
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
Music - I do like music, but I really only listen to NPR when I'm in my car, and I run to podcasts of This American Life, Radiolab, Freakonomics, The Moth, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, and Car Talk.

Food - pretty much everything. I love to cook for friends and try to make something new once a week.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Why a significant portion of women on OKC list parallel parking as something they're good at. And why there is apparently a preponderance of men on this site who take shirtless bathroom selfies.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I really liked Pitch Perfect.

I only push the walk button once.
