Write a little about yourself. Just a paragraph will do.
What I did on my summer non-vacation:
Dined out for and cooked gourmet and ethnic meals. Asia Cafe is
fabulous; so is my South American sweet potato stew.
Visited friends in the Northwest; loved the quirky neighborhoods
but so happy that Knoxville is much less expensive so I
Bought a house in friendly, walkable, architecturally interesting
Experienced a breakup: cried a bit and discovered a couple good new
flavors of ice cream/gelato
Had great deep group and friend discussions about politics,
religion, and social justice
Danced a couple new and inspirational routines in class
Got a promotion at work
Started to get caught up on Dr. Who Series 8
Discovered the beauty of the Civil Wars after they broke up
What I’m doing with my life
Don’t overthink this one; tell us what you’re doing day-to-day.
Been in Knoxville for a year. I'm currently decorating my new
house; learning the triumphs and tribulations of yard work;
enjoying my job; exploring the region; getting to know more people;
trying to get more community involved; working to spread compassion
and the value of social justice.
I’m really good at
Go on, brag a little (or a lot). We won’t judge.
Dreaming, mythologizing, putting things into perspective, traveling
on a budget, cooking, baking, listening to people's concerns,
understanding and analyzing complex problems. I wish I were better
at dancing and singing, and I'd like to work on building up my
hiking endurance again.
The first things people usually notice about me
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!

Music: any manifestation of Greg Dulli or Dan Boeckner; TV on the
Radio, Florence and the Machine, Zola Jesus, Snow Patrol/Tired
Books: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, Isabel Allende, Salman Rushdie,
Dostoevsky, Milan Kundera, Barbara Kingsolver, Lev Grossman, Neil
TV Shows: anything Joss Whedon or Aaron Sorkin has done has been
pretty phenomenal; I like witty writing! British series like Dr.
Who or Downton Abbey. Scandal.
Food: Always something different, but my comfort foods are sushi,
pad thai, pizza, and ice cream
The six things I could never do without
Think outside the box. Sometimes the little things can say a lot.
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Global warming, lunch, or your next vacation… it’s all fair game.
Why people do what they do: motivations, limitations. Why the world
is the way it is; how it could be different. How different people
live. The meaning I make of dreams and coincidences.
How to do my work.
On a typical Friday night I am
Netflix and takeout, or getting your party on — how do you let loose?
Why Friday? On Friday I'm pretty tired from the work week. If
dating someone, it's a good night for a meal out with a nice
cocktail, micro brew, or glass of wine. If not, an episode of a
series I'm watching, book and blog reading. For the past month,
I've been trying to get caught up on a lawn that's been a bit
neglected in recent years.
On days and nights when I have more energy: a rotation of hiking,
group/book discussions, going for walks, live music, dance class.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I’m an empty essay… fill me out!
Music and the intellect turns me on; comfort and trust necessary
for frequent expression and exploration!
