I'm a huge nerd. I read comics and go to conventions and renaissance faires and all that good nerdy stuff. I'm also fascinated by real science and history. I collect animal bones for reference tools and drawing practice. I've cleaned some of my collection myself. If you think that's gross, sorry not sorry. I like running, hiking, and being active outside, and I walk everywhere I can. I've had to give up running for now while I sort out my recent hip impingement diagnosis. I miss running. A lot. I love learning and will stop when I'm dead. I enjoy museums and art festivals. I mean, seriously, my first degree is in art. Of course I like art. I'm blunt and don't have much filter when it comes to things others might find gross, and sometimes I'm painfully literal. Like Spock level literal. But then I'll pretend to be a dinosaur when I go in the kitchen for snacks. I also hum to myself a lot, or straight up sing dumb songs narrating mundane tasks. I'm very giving and wish I was financially able to give more, but since I can't, I donate my time and my self. I donate blood on a regular basis because I have a rare blood type (A-) and it's rewarding to know I've helped others. When I finish EMS training I want to start volunteering again. Also, I enjoy playing in the mud and people watching.
I'm an introvert and it takes me awhile to get used to new people, so don't be surprised if I'm quiet on a first meeting or quiet in general. Once I get used to you I'm more willing to be silly and ridiculous with you.
There's no singular characteristic that will make me like you. It's a combination of characteristics laid over a good foundation of human decency. If you have the initiative to clean the kitchen, take out the trash, clean your living space in general, because you know it won't clean itself and don't expect someone else to do it for you...major bonus points. I'm smart and I know when to be serious, but the thought of going through every day serious as stone is boring as sin. I like being silly. It's fun and uplifting. If you can't be your true self around someone then what's the point?
I'm looking for friendships that can grow into something more.
Also. I like Star Wars AND Star Trek. EQUALLY. For they are both great and flawed pieces of sci-fi in their own ways.
What I’m doing with my life
I finished my EMT basic and start Advanced training in January. I'd like to go all the way through Paramedic, but after advanced training I want to work for awhile and save up some money.
I graduated SCAD with a BFA in Animation and Sequential art and slowly learned that I don't really want to make art at the direction of other people, and that I dislike working from home and sitting at a desk all day. I want art to be mine again.
When I'm more financially stable, I hope to travel more, give more, and become fluent in a second language.
I’m really good at
Finding humor in the everyday, drawing, distracting myself,
cooking, researching, being optimistic, listening, back rubs.
The first things people usually notice about me
I touch my nose a lot. That's because I had corrective jaw surgery
for tmj and only 25% sensation came back to my upper front teeth,
upper lip, and nose. Kissing is still awesome!
Favorite books, movies, shows, music, and food
I like fantasy and sci-fi, the supernatural, adventure, super powers, B horror, classic literature, British humor, police procedural, documentaries, terrible urban fantasy romance, comics, westerns, and the news. I read a lot. Seriously, a lot. If left alone with something to read, I will read it. I'm not terribly picky about what it is.
I watch TV/movies via Netflix in the same sort of genres listed above.
I like movies and food, but not food at the movies. Popcorn is disgusting and fried food makes me ill. I'm not opposed to trying new foods, but chocolate, bacon, ice cream, deep fried, and mayonnaise are deal breakers. I like healthy foods, but I'm not afraid of a big cheeseburger.
I prefer RPGs, first person adventure, and puzzle games. I don't play anymore because EMS training and the remains of my freelance work took over my life. Going into healthcare, though, I want to be on top of my shit. Games can wait.
I'm not much for board games unless it's cooperative play. I also like Cards Against Humanity.
The only podcast I like is Welcome to Night Vale.
I listen to all kinds of music. Some of my Pandora seeds are: Bobby Darin, Etta James, Django Reinhardt, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, The Ronettes, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Kills, Pixies, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, The Buzzcocks, Portishead, Massive Attack, Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, Lorde, Mapei, Churches, London Grammar, Madeon
What it really comes down to, is that I am a cat, and one day, curiosity is going to kill me. Most likely through food poisoning.
I also like the internet, which doesn't fall easily into any of the above categories.
The six things I could never do without
1. water for tea/coffee
6. a sense of humor
I spend a lot of time thinking about
Story plot. What's for dinner. Where's my cat. Where did I acquire that bruise. Where's my stylus. Where the fuck is my phone. Opening an Etsy shop. Thinking that I think to much. I am that person for whom two choices is sometimes one choice too many.
On a typical Friday night I am
I typically work Friday evenings, but on Friday mornings I'll see a
movie if there's something out worth seeing. If not, running or
reading or working or dicking around on the internet.
The most private thing I’m willing to admit
I'm not a very private person, but I only share some things when
I'm a rock star in my shower.
I have crippling, ugly face crying, anxiety about the
I don't trust metal grates in the sidewalk.
I'm not a natural red head.
You should message me if
We share a common interest and you're not afraid to laugh at
If your base message to me is "YOU GOT PRETTY FACE I FORGOT HOW TO
BRAIN." Please take a deep breath, a cold shower, and look through
all the open ended things I left in my profile as conversation
